Judge Hands Down Maximum Sentence in SJ Road Rage Case That Left Man Paralyzed
Source: kcbs
Publication date: 2004-04-16

(KCBS) A South Bay judge has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison after he was convicted of crippling a motorcyclist during a road rage incident.
KCBS reporter Mike Colgan says 35 year old Rodney Torres and 39 year old Tom Castrillon got into a confrontation on June 2nd, 2003 at a stoplight near Camden and Hillsdale Avenues in San Jose.

Torres was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon for using his pickup truck to chase down Castrillon, who is now in a wheelchair.

During the sentencing, the judge said Torres failed to show any remorse or take any responsibility for his actions.

re:

IMO That's not enough time. The assailant will still be able to walk out of jail after 10 years. The victim on the other hand will never be able to be the same person again. Not to mention never be able to ride again. :(

I remember this, it happened last year year some time. They got into an argument and the motorcyclist ended up in a parking lot and the guy in the pickup ran him over.

BARF kept the updates flowing and i think i remember them catching him a while back too.

10 yrs. vs. janklow's 100days.... intention is everything.

You're 100% right. We had every BARFer in the south bay looking for this sack of crap. I believe he was caught about a week later when someone (Not a BARFer) recognized the truck and saw the damage on it.

if you read all the reports, the piece of chit changed the name on his registration, changed his tailgate, painted/fixed the front end, etc. He did everything he could to avoid getting caught; luckily a neighbor heard the news & saw him painting his truck & called police.

To me what he did was attempted murder...sadly our justice system doesn't see it...10 years? Parole in 5? 2.5 years off for good behavior- I think we will be lucky if the guy spends more than 2-3 years in prison.

Hopefully he will become bubba's biatch immediately & gets gang raped nightly...

Let's see... "failed to show any remorse"... You know what? I LIKE Hussein! Really, and Hitler too. Why? Because as horrible a creeps as those guys are, they wouldn't have thought twice about laying this punk in the middle of a public square, using his OWN truck, and running over his spine until his expression was at least 'similar' to the gentleman he paralyzed. They could finish him off by having a surgeon hand a knife to the gentleman now in the chair and saying: "Here my good man. Cut here. It's called the L-3 region. Quit when you think he's punished enough. Cut to this point -A- and he won't walk again either. Cut here where it is labeled -C- and he won't use his arms either. Call us on your intercom when you're done, we'll come get you. As for him, we'll leave it to him to find his OWN medical attention. The money we save on an ambulance will make a nice purchase on your Go-Kart. Mr. Rainey and Mr. Lawson will be waiting for you at Laguna to teach you how to drive it. ":mad :kicknuts :troy

Well I am sorry but it really doesn't do much for that biker that is hurt for life. I will say what I feel and know. I feel sad that it had happen and it went down the way it did. Really sad of the out come. I personally know of Rodney and am sorry that it went terribly wrong that day for him. Rodney has never once shown me any disrespect and has gotten along with me perfectly fine. Everyone has a temper and a bad side...I'm just sad his came out at the wrong time and the wrong place of which he act apon and now has to pay for his actions. I know Rodney is wrong but feel that he would not do this if "not" provoked by the rider which still doesn't change anything. My two cents
