OK folks,
After posting a few times, you guys know I'm a cop. I have had a few private messages asking some specific questions. I have read posts regarding all kinds of traffic questions. It seems that there is alot of confusion out there as to what are traffic laws, insurance laws, and basic law violations.

If you have a question, feel free to ask. Don't always expect a FAST reply from me, but one within a day I can do....since I don't log on 24/7.

I will try to answer as many questions as possible, but please, make them serious, and don't use it as a cop bashing forum.

I have 12 years in the business, I'm not the ALL KNOWING person about this stuff, but, if I don't know the answer, I know where to find it!

So, feel free if you do need a question answered. I will not purposely be harsh if thats what happens, but I don't hold punches either....I'm not here to make you feel better, but I will answer your question HONESTLY.

I ask only one thing first...

If you have a question, research it here first, then, if you can't answer it, I'll try and help. THIS IS THE BEST SITE FOR ANSWERING YOUR LEGAL QUESTIONS IN REGARDS TO WHAT THE LAW SAYS...

its really easy to use. So, happy code hunting!

Anthony, 10-36 is the code for "confidential."

There's lots of cops on this board, but few who readily admit it. Yes I do have a nice shiny badge. Took a long time before I was comfortable enough to speak of my profession on this board. There have been some pretty blatant cop bashing threads here, but mostly I think cops are respected, but their job/mission is misunderstood.

When we going riding?

Cool!!

So.. is it really illegal to ride with one hand on the bars?

If someone is signalling to make a right and you're coming out of a driveway, and they decide to go straight instead and hit you, whose fault is it?

Oh.. do you have a police trading card that I can have? :D

You all have a job to do :thumbup

Thanks for posting up and offering your knowledge, Im sure you will be busy answering questions around here. :laughing

Do you ride on duty also :confused

is it legal to make a U turn at a stop light (when green, duh) unless otherwise posted?

is it legal to make a u turn in the middle of a 4 way stop sign intersection?

if road A is a culdasack (spelling?) at one end, and at the other end intersects with road B and does not continue thru road B going straight. road B is a straight steet that runs perpindicular to road A and both these roads connect via an uncontrolled intersection - who has right of way? (i'd assume road A beacuse they are not turning and road B people have to to get off of road B and to get onto their only option (road B)

if pulled over, and there is no reasonable suspicion that the subject has a weapon, is it legal to search the vehicle of the suspect? is it legal to search the trunk? or a locked glove box?

don't the various agencies all use different 10 codes too? so one translation might not match another. that's gotta' drive you crazy.

I'm 10-97 to the fridge for an ice cream sandwich, then 7 on the side. :p

Okay, then how about a LEO post up the real deal on splitting traffic. I have heard a million things, but I go by the one I have heard proof of. And that is you can share lanes, that is it. There are no other laws regarding splitting traffic, so the laws regarding reckless driving are applied.

I've got a question, since I got reminded of it in the other thread. Why does every cop think that it helps the driver's mood in the slightest bit after they get that ticket and the small lecture about being safe...that they have to say, "Have a nice day." The chances of that ended the instant we got handed the magic yellow slip of paper.

PM me and let me know when you ride. I usualy ride on Sundays.

This has always bewildered me.

Say there is an intersection. 3 lanes.
The left lane is left turn only. The right lane is right turn only. The middle lane is right turn only.

I know the right lane can turn right after stopping on a red light.
Can the middle lane turn right after stopping on a red?

I never 'go' from the middle lane, but consistently get people honking at me to go. :teeth

Do some tickets after being written up, never get turned into the courts ?
