What temperture does your 600 normally run at, and what is too hot, 230, 240 degrees? Thanks.
 
230-240 is always too hot for a bike. are the fans coming on when it reaches those temps? is this during city riding (stop n' go), freeway, twisties?

it should run around the 170-180ish range.

1st thing i'd check is the radiator for air pockets and stuff.
 
Ive just run it around San Mateo a little bit, so city riding. It was getting up around 210. When I went down third ave., by the bay, it dropped to around 180 on that long stretch at 50mph.

Man, this bike is nice!
 
160-220 seems normal for an F4i from what I remember.
At ~220 the fan kicks on and should not allow the temp to get any higher.
 
When im not going steady speed, like streets w/ stop signs and such it gets up to 225. Are the fans just catching up at that point and the temp. shouldnt get much higher?
 
On mine, the fan kicks on at 225ish, and it gets there fairly quick in stopped traffic on a warm day. when you get moving it should cool down, always depends on outside temps, hills stopping etc..
Mine hasn't gone above 230, I think, and i dont think it will with the fan, unless something is wrong. Good luck and I hope your enjoying the bike. How do you like it?
 
Its not been as hot as 230 yet so I guess im just trippin. I love my F4i so far, only 47 miles though. Im not supposed to be on it yet due to my leg but..I cant help it. It rides so smooth and solid, and feels good just being on it:laughing

Freeway/open air riding mine runs around 177-180 degrees. In-town/stop and go/lane splitting it will run upwards of 225-229, thankfully not much hotter than that. If you can, switch out to distilled water and Watter-Wetter (breaks the surface tension so the water runs more evenly through the cooling system) so you're already set for trackdays... because you know you'll be chomping at the bit for them once your leg is healed. ;):teeth

One thing to keep in mind... DO NOT BABY THIS BIKE DURING BREAK-IN! The most important thing is to not run it only at one RPM range for long periods (e.g. long freeway commutes) and don't be afraid to zing it up toward redline on occasion. PM Mr. O or RaKitty about breaking in a new engine, you'll be happier with the result if you do - seriously.

:teeth <~~~This is me everytime one looks at me now.lol! Im trying to get the wife to let me go for my first real ride Friday(ive been riding around San Mateo a little so far)As my leg is healing pretty damn fast. Funny how a new bike heals a person quickly.
 
Congrats on the new bike bro...if I remember correctly, around town my ol' F4i runs around 215 . ON the freeways, around 180ish. Just remember to let her warm up to around 110 before running her. How do you like the built in heated seats and leg warmer options on the F4i? ;)
 
Fireblade~Holyshit, the heated seat is an accessory I could do without! Im already doing the chickenleg thing(swinging my legs out wide)to cool my hammies off.

I heard the fan click on today at 225. Im sure its the first time its come on in the 3 days ive had her. Mind you im hurt, and only have 80 miles on her so far.

Thanks for the heads up on 110 degrees before riding. I was not too sure what tempurture was ok to start riding at, so I was waiting till 130.
