This is my friend already. He has several Jeeps, his whole family drives them. Cherokees and Wranglers.
The basic rule is pretty much anything with EFI, nothing earlier.
And there are enough of them, and they're simple enough, and the 4L six is bullet proof enough, that they're effectively immortal.
My Jeep GC is 13 this year, its got some fancy bits, notably air suspension, but also the 8 speed transmission, electronic locking rear diff, "driving modes".
I have a small, it's not even a tear, but sort of, on the passenger seat, that I'm hoping I can get fixed without reupholstering the entire seat.
Other than that, its in great shape, 120K miles.
If/when it implodes, I may well follow in my friends footsteps and get an older Cherokee.
Everyone says "good money after bad", but there's a lot of things you can fix on this thing for $60K it would take to replace it.
And, yea, I know, you're supposed to buy a used, 3 yr old lease return, drive it for 2 years, sell it, rinse and repeat. But I've never been like that. Can't imagine a new car every few years.
