ME to second SELLER:

hi brandon.

i spoke with your son, robert about the sale of his gsx-r750. id like to setup a day that i can take a look at the bike
and possibly purchase it. please contact me ASAP.

SECOND SELLER:

The bike belongs to my son Robert W. Verrege. He has decided to sell the bike out due to his trip with The World Health Organization (WHO) and because of these I have moved to Jonesboro, GA State in my house.

I have asked movers to bring the motorcycle here so it is not abandoned in the garage and can be tested at least occasionally.

Also its important you know that my son is selling the bike due to his transfer from work, and i'm too "old" to ride a bike. We don't want it damaged and we are looking for someone who can take very good care of it as we are not after the money, but want it to be in good hands.

The bike is in perfect condition, no major fault or damages, not wrecked, never layed down, never dropped, not out in rain ... clear title plus paperwork/invoice/bill of purchase (just to show proof of ownership). We don't need to keep the extra accessories so they'll be going too.

I'd be looking to read from you again.

Brad

SELLER:

Hi,

I wont be chanced to arrange a meeting or show, especially when I have to leave the city. I am handing the bike to a shipping company to bring down to you to test-run and look through the title/pink slip. As I explained earlier the title is already in good shape, duly signed and prepared for transferee to complete.

Payment can be handled by escrow through the shipping company, I don't mind. While delivery charges will be handled by me. What's your opinion on this?

I will talk to my son to make sure we all get along.

seems safe. looked up the shipping company. copy/pasted AD and emails to google, bing, yahoo.. no similar stories.

sounds like alot of work to go through to sell a bike for such a low price.

no doubt... scam.

Send them your favorite enemy's information. :laughing

yep, surely scam. Nice bike sale @ half or less of the actual value...

address move, asking too little money (half-down) to be shipped...

move it to GA so you can't inspect it (because it probably doesn't exist)

move on...

Hay want to own a piece of the Golden Gate Bridge. I know a guy who knows a guy who can hook you up:p

Scammer 1 billion percent. Tell him you're an airline pilot and will fly to see the bike and he'll tell you the bike can not be seen. But really, why continue wasting your time?

It is totally legit! I know Snuffy and Verrege. If you are not comfortable with the arrangement, give me the cash and I can be the go-between! :thumbup

:facepalm

The fact that anyone has to even ask if this is a scam is the reason why these scammers persist. Because there are people foolish enough to fall for them.

OP, seriously? You thought there was even a chance it was legit?

Now there's an idea. Tell him you'll be in Atlanta next xxxxday, & want to come look at the bike. You want to make an appointment.

Then it will become painfully obvious when he can't produce address/time/place for inspection of bike. I can hear it on phone: "uh uh uh...we having it worked on at dealer so you can't come see it right now" Or some other foolishness...

send me your monies and i'll procure it for you

There was a thread on Barf where someone fucked with a scammer like that, the scammer even showed up to post.:laughing

Basically anytime you hear "Please i want you to note that, I am a kind and honest man" randomly without you asking them something directly about their kindness / honestly .. its a scam.

They'll just come up with another reason why you can't see it. Don't waste time on the scammers unless you want to mess with them.

I remember a Ducati Monster that was only "just a little bit" too good to be true. When I inquired about it they said that it was in Asheville, NC. I happened to know somebody in the area who is a Monster expert, so I tried to make arrangements for him to have a look and possibly buy it for me. Then the story changed. They'll already have an excuse for why you can't see it before purchase.

Unless it's a rare and desirable bike, just about all out of town motorcycle sales are scams.

The last time I was looking at a bike in Las Vegas for my family there, the scammer said the bike was in Modesto. I said, "Sweet, I'm in SF, I'll be down on Saturday." He spent a couple of days trying to convince me to still send the money online.
