So that blasted front wheel doesn't blast the shit out of the underside of your front fairing. Or, in my Monster's case, doesn't sling stuff up in front of the bike so that I ride chest-level into it as I'm moving forward.
Really need to replace my front fender soon.... thanks for reminding me.
Having ridden my Eliminator without a fender for a bit, it's there to keep rocks and other road debris from getting flung up inside your helmet from the bottom...
On my current rides, front fenders do a pretty good job at keeping radiators and oil coolers from taking unnecessary damage.
