I was lucky enough to have my GF agree to be my fiancé last week and were trying to narrow down the many (MANY) venue options. Our families won't be paying for any of this and my engagement ring was expensive. So, we're looking for a nice, quaint venue for under 30 people.

Any recommendations are welcome!

Give the Crystal Springs Golf Course (Wedgewood Banquet Center) a look-at. They're off HWY 280 in Burlingame. My wife and I had our 100 person wedding there (but they can appropriately handle 30) and they did an excellent job of everything. They're also mostly inclusive too, so you don't have to go around hunting for your own vendors. That made for an easier time for my indecisive wife. =)

We rented the Vetrans Memorial Hall in downtown Hayward. Probably too big for 30 though, we had about 250.

There is a smaller one in Niels. Might check into what the county has down you way. Not only is the hall rental a little less, you aren't locked into a caterer with jacked up prices.

Our food came from the Chavez Supermarket Taqueria :laughing

Congrats Brandon! What about Oak knoll Naval base; they have a pretty big hall they rent out relatively cheap.

It's pretty too, a very Southern Feel.

Edit:

I dont know if it's still open or available looking on google but a buddy of mine got married there a few years ago it was beautiful I thought.

This was one place we looked at last year. I really liked it, but we opted for an alternate:

http://www.sandrockfarm.com/

They have a bunch of garden areas where you can set up for various sized weddings, and it may be possible to book the whole B&B as well, so the wedding party and some family can stay there the night before / after.

If you post up some more specifics: area, type of ceremony you want, price range, etc., I might be able to match some of the other venues we looked at.

The Japanese Gardens in Hayward might also be a great spot for a small wedding. We did our wedding photos there.

We got married at the Mira Vista Golf Club in the hills above Richmond, yes, Richmond.

It was fucking awesome and affordable too. Beautiful place.

My buddy got married at a winery in livermore, forget the name, it was a nice place. I'm sure you can google it.

I got married on the golf course off black mountain road in Hillsborough. Beautiful place great outdoor wedding location great pictures with the crystal springs reservoir in the background and if you want they have a reception area up the road.
