Many sites are starting to use sales services that take 4% and another 1% for them.

I have been approached to implement such. Not going to do it.

However I am willing to ask that the 1% be a voluntary guideline to help barf keep supplying you a good place to sell your bike or gear or whatever.

In all honesty barf has kicked in 25k into the AFM over the last three years and much more in sponsorships and that has been more due to my real job than barf, but since my mini stroke and two life altering operations my real biz is facing tough times. So I am going to have to adjust sponsorships because the Doc say 12 hours a day and the stress of big biz is killing me. So I am honoring that and cutting back.

However I don't want to cut back my support of the Moto community. So I am asking for just a bit of help while not doing what many other sites may do.

I am leaving it up to you to decide if my effort is worthy of your support.

My best and thanks for all considerations.

Absolutely 100% fair; Bud ... I would also propose this be applicable in the "Trackdays for Sale" section ...

Even though my contributions have been miniscule i will continue to do so to the best of my abilities in supporting a great local forum. :thumbup

Very fair and I'll need to contribute a little more then.

A good and fair idea which I want to see !

I had no idea this site was in need of donations. Is there a way the admin could automate a welcome message to new users inboxes regarding this? I have been racking my wee brain trying to figure out what 'contributor' meant. I figured it was time spent telling people that their opinion was wrong.

At any rate, I just sent you a fair share. If it weren't for BARF, I would have to go to all my pass track days. Lord knows I can't manage all of them.

Not a bad idea at all! I'll make sure I keep that in mind the next time I sell something through BARF

Jeremy we are not in need.

Support from you guys helps support our efforts towards our community whether racing, safety or tires...:laughing

If you list your contribution as a "gift", it makes BARF's tax life a little easier too--more of your money goes to the site. :)

I've only now discovered the option to purchase a custom user tag, which I think is a great way to be a diamond in the BARF rough! The best part? The $10/year renewal fee for your custom tag eliminates the need to remember to contribute every now and then! :laughing

Edit: My bad.. already stickied.Totally a fair ask, as the ease/deals via BARF are more than worth it. ive made plenty o transactions here.

It's crazy I am just now finding out about this too. I figured this was an option that unlocked with "contribution" to the forum. I figured once I got passed 'noob' status, I would find an edit field in my profile section.

How this is not a mandatory PM to all new users, I will never know. I read the stickies in every forum I posted in for the first time, but not once (even in introductions) did it spell it out for you. It wasn't until I meandered over to 'donations' for the first time (about an hour ago), that I figured it all out.

Now, I'm not one to boss people around, but if you want this to be all clear to everyone, put it in a sticky, first spot above all the forums you are asking for the donation, with a solid reason why this donation is important. I would also PM all new users with the breakdown along with the important rules.

That said, you now have my money+, and I'll continue to contribute as long as I'm making money that I can share.

It is not asking much to throw some bucks to BARF if you sell your bike because of the post on BARF.

I have always tried to donate $25-50-100 depending on how much the bike is worth.

Methinks it's to stay in the spirit of contributing in the member's own terms, new and old alike. Like budman wrote, BARF's not in need, only in want for wanting to continue supporting the world of motorcycling.

Most members would be surprised just how far involved BARF has been. New and old alike. :thumbup

That's my point precisely.

How would one know, if not told? How can the 'community' help to become better, if we as a community don't know how, or why to help BARF? More importantly, why would we help BARF, with donations to sell things when we can get it for free on CL?

That's it in a nutshell. If barf gave everyone a consise understanding of what Barf does for the community, and how we all can help with the importance on why we should, it will change the structure of the community.

I'm happy to help because I have watched BARF in action for years (from afar). But if you want all these kids to help, or help more, you have to tell them flat out why.

Completely fair thing to ask. I'll donate some dough when the current bike sell for sure.

Why you want more money from me :cry :twofinger

Seriously though, I think it is only fair that people should donate a percentage of any sale they make. I know, could sell for free on CL but how many posts have we had where people are ranting about CL flakes?? Generally speaking BARFers aren't flakes. Generally speaking that is :rofl

Yo Bud, I think you should charge them PostWhores a penny a post :rofl
