A very good client of mine recently took delivery of this brand new Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series and brought me out to correct it and coat it with CQuartz Finest. I've enjoyed working on a couple of his C63 AMG Black Series, but I was very excited to work on his SLS AMG Black Series. It was fortunate enough to escape a dealer wash, but there were still issues from the factory to be sorted out. A solid 3 days went into this beauty at the beautiful facility of Club Auto Sport in San Jose, CA. After it was completed, I had my friend James Larieau come out and shoot some nice photos of this very special car. Onto the pics......

As I arrived at Club Auto Sport, the SLS Black had all its shipping wrapping and padding still in place. I love getting cars this "factory fresh"

Very cool emergency trunk release button flashing green....just in case you get locked in the trunk.

Even though no dealer washed the car, it was far from defect-free. It had its fair share of light marring, swirls, hard water spot etching, and extensive DA sanding marks.

At this point I brought Ryan out to help me get the final compounding and polishing done. The hood required 16hrs by itself to correct the extremely heavy DA sanding marks

Being rich looks like it might be fun. I may have made different choices earlier in life had I known that then.

WOW that is nice. I looked up the base price and showed the wife. Her response "too much $$$ to make a personal statement." I told her better statement than the having a mistress. She said I have a point.

And far less expensive...:teeth

It's almost worth the price just to be able to hear the sound of it firing up any time you want! Gorgeous car. The carbon-ceramic rotors look wild!

Personally, I liked the SLR McLaren more than this funky looking thing but I still wouldn't kick her outta bed.

But damn! Unmolested by the dealer and it still has that many defects? What the hell are Klaus and Heinrich doing over there? This is supposed to be the top of the range limited edition king shit AMG Benzo. That should have never been released to the dealer like that.

I hope your client passed the bill right on to M-B.

tell me, why you no work for big time car people dealer types????

My guess is that if he's busy full time it would only be giving them some of the money he would normally be putting in his pocket.

I never got to drive the Black series, but the SLS AMG's I have driven were some of the absolutely best handling vehicles I have ever put to the road. More fun than the SLR and actually usable unlike the SL65 black series. One day I'll try one at the track. There may or may not have been some test drives up and down old tunnel road at undisclosed speeds... hey, it's were the fault code kept occurring so I had to try to duplicate it, and try, and try, and try again...
