It did sound like you were planning a "soon" departure.
It also looks like you have another whole week to prep & pack.

I'm actually departing Wednesday but will spend the night at Mom's in Anderson (just south of Redding) just to visit.

I'll be watching the weather thru next week. If it looks like any chance of rain I'll bring an extra 10x10 gazebo to pow-wow under.
I'll have the Weber Q2000 too so if anybody wants to pick up foodstuff there your welcome to toss it on the grill. Pages Market (Cedarville) is fairly well stocked.
And of course the 30 cup coffee maker... on timer.

Only thing I'm not sure on is which bike.
Most likely "just" the TW. Small, low & slow with big grin factor.
But... the 950S is tempting with new knobbies and all. Covers more ground quicker. Big, fast & tall, further to fall.
m0t0_ryder 30-cup-timer coffee, ftw!

hope to see you and Chris Thursday pm, to help set-up ...

be interesting to see what bikes you choose to bring ... is the KTM 450 not on the short-list? god bless the TW, I say, but new knobbies on big carburetor-ed KTM twin must be hard to resist ...

guess I’m getting pretty psyched to try to show up ...

Not sure if I'll do it Friday or Saturday but I plan to get to Soldier Meadows Hot Springs.

Thought is to go East via 8A to Massacre Cabin then to Stevens Camp. Then thru the High Rock Canyon route (if open) and on to Soldier Meadows. If High Rock Canyon is (still) closed I'll go the northern route above East Fork High Rock Canyon Wilderness then down to Soldier Meadows. Then back out through the southern route to hook up with 34 and back to Cedarville.

A little soak in the springs and packed lunch/beverages somewhere in the middle there.

MAP!

One of the better maps of this area (IMO) is the Tri-Corners Regional Recreation Map.

I think it can be ordered from the above link.(?)

I picked mine up at the Alturas Forest Service Regional office on the way in last year.

Here's a photo of a section of the map with Cedarville to center-left, Hart Mtn/Oregon to the North and Soldier Meadows to the East.

if you do the Soldier Meadows thing, I'll try to meet you there ...
want to see if there is an easy way from the north (if there is one ...?)

how deep a water crossing can the TW do?

Not sure what the fording capabilities of the TW are.
With those big ass tires it might do pretty well... with me off of it.

The map(s) I posted on ADVrider are full size (not reduced like here on barf).
If you "save as" on my map pictures (on ADV) you can zoom in "fairly well" to see a little more detail.
There are a few ways into Soldier Meadows from the north... via 8A.
Here's a zoom in snip of one of the map pictures. Cedarville to the left and Soldier Meadows to the right.

I'm leaving Thurs from Richmond - are you slabbing all the way up? I was planning to go Red Bluff or Redding through Lassen to Termo (Ravendale) so I could do the Buckhorn byway, but the route I was planning would take about 14hrs! I'd really like to be at the fairgrounds by early afternoon to help John and get settled, so instead I'm planning on shooting straight up 5 to Redding and 299 the rest of the way.
