A few Snapshots of Hwy 36 & 3 05/21/05 - BARF

Great riding this weekend, the weather was perfect! A little warm in Redbluff on the way back today .. but not unbearable.

Hwy 36 was is great shape, keept a very brisk pace I only had to pass 2 cars on the way up to Hwy 3 and I had a couple people pull over for me on the way back. For a weekend it is unreal to still see how little traffic such a great road gets.

I didn't make it all the way to the coast, I cut off to head North on the hwy 3 trun off.... I was visiting my brother in Coffee Creek.

Over all 660 miles in 2 days, GPS says 66 MPH Average, 13Hrs 48 Mins total moving time, top speed 107 MPH. Perfect weekend but I'm exhausted now... long trip for leaving on a Saturday morning.

P.S. Hwy 3 was littered with deer! If you head up there anytime this summer slow downa nd keep your eyes peeled. I saw at least 8 deer right on the road, or roadside. 36 I didnt see any deer, except one dead one off tot he side that had obviously been hit.

we were kinda seperated most of the time, I took off at my pace and Bob & Lisa rode behind ... we would meet up to chit chat /eat etc .. every so often.

It's so nice when everything is still green up there. I stoped and talked to some old guy (must have been 60+ ) who pulled up on an 04 K1200RS ... said he just traded in his 98 K1200RS for this one .. it was still running perfect with 171k miles on it. Goos to hear! He said he lives up there and most all of his miles are from Hwy 36 ... lucky SOB

Here I stopped at the 3/299 intersection. I needed to water some bushes and wait up for Bob & Lisa.

I'm headed that direction to ride again June 4/5 if anyone wants to join up. I'm leaving from there to go ride a few days of Oregon roads also if anyone has the time. Comming back June 8th or 9th.

Me and Lisa had to head back home today .. Bob continued on his Harley into Canada for a few days.

Very friendly yes, not real sure about the voice or laugh. He was shorter, maybe 5' 7" Must have been at least 60, Red/Grey 04 K1200rs. I forget his name

If thats him, tell him he is living my retirement dream

If his name is Myrl, then that's the guy. He's really cool. I've ridden with him before and he's an excellent rider and knows this roads extremely well. Small world...
