Talking HAVOC IN HAWTHORNE!?!?! u.b.o.b. (and George gets lost)

Where to start? Well, a few of the headlines:

-Freddo detained!
-A hole in a tire the size of uhmeebubs little....pinkie.
-qualifying round on Hwy 167 (54 mi in about 30 min.)
-miller highlife
- blackjack losers
- secret photos in the middle of the nite..
- personal bests on top speed.
- AND GEORGE GETS LOST..........TWICE!!!!

so I get out of work friday morning at 7am, and i'm on the road by 9am. Heading out of the fiery pit of hades, that I lovingly refer to as Las Vegas. I'm packed up, and ready to ride. I'm sure the mtns. will be cooler than this infernal heat.
Making a run up the 95 thru Amargosa Valley, and then on to Beatty, Nv. while riding, my mind is wandering, and I'm beginning to nod off. not good. so i pull into Beatty, gas up and down a red bull, some water, and link up with a young marine dude, on his way to Reno to party with friends. We'll ride together for a few miles, and then i cut off to California.

Running a little faster than the traffic, but not much of it out there. He gets out to pass a car, and hadn't seen an oncoming car, and gets back in the lane just in time. lucky dude. haha

At the jct. of Hwy 266 I stop for the first photo.

This place is for sale, by the way.
it's funny to see this one building in the middle of nowhere, nothing for 15 miles in any direction, but desert and mtns......

...btw, that was a brothel. I go west on Hwy. 266. it seems they are resurfacing the road, so for the first 15 miles, it's a wobbly kind of cornering as the road isn't to well surfaced. oh, well, I make it to the top of Lida Summit, stop for a photo. I was going to run some video, but i'm missing the bolt for the camera. dammit. oh, well. another time. I start my downward spiral. I'll add, that at this time, seeing as how I was shaking down Hwy 95 at about a buck 15, i wasn't doing well on fuel to mileage ratio. I did figure though, that there is a gas station near. WRONG! apparently, the only services there, are at Beatty, Nv. GoldPoint, Nv. (about 10 miles of dirt to get to it) and the next one is at Big Pine, Ca.

well, after crossing my fingers, and promising myself, that I wouldn't tell anyone, if I DID run out of gas, i just hoped for the best, and began to enjoy the scenery and ever increasing twisties.

Lida is but a speck on the map, you blink and you miss it. but I can see why people would live out here. Peaceful, altitude keeps the weather cool, and no one really bothers you, I don't think they get much law enforcement up here either....

so i keep rolling thru....and come up to the California state line.....it seems the thing to do is to leave your mark on these signs. i think i recognize a few of those holes. haha not really.
I still had about 30 miles to a gas station, and i'm already on reserve. damn.

the town of Oasis is cool, and that's where it splits to the 168. first you climb up this steep, twisty canyon, with multiple switch backs, and winding curves. the only problem, is that it's easy too see how the debris gets on the road...at the top of the summit, I'm happy, cause all i got to do now, is coast down the mtn, if i run out of gas. so i stopped and took a photo.

At this point I was tired, and in need of some beer...well, and some red bull or something.

on saturday morning we rode to Lee Vinning, where we would wait for the rest of the group to arrive. while there, we took the opportunity to ride up to the entrance of yosemite n.p.

they finally show up about 2:15pm...not bad, and just 15 min. off schedule. amazing, apparently traffic is horrible thru the park....

...and no, they can't park in unison, or in order.
