When Your Girlfriend is an IronButt - Our Labor Day Weekend
So, it's pretty much a scientific fact that when you have a significant other who rides, you do fun stuff together. This Labor Day weekend, Kelly (Cerulean Skye) and I decided to take 4 days out and go up to Yosemite. We would stay in Sonora and get into trouble everyday and come back on Sunday. Kelly's never been to Yosemite nor has she ever ridden this far (she's a 4 mos. newb)... so this was going to be fun! When I mapped this trip out, I decided to avoid highways, so we hit all these little ag towns along the way.
We started on Thursday. Kelly pulled in all loaded up, and I already had the Killer ready to go. ![]() ![]() One excited biker chick. ![]() Our first rest stop was at Casa De Pendejo. It was pretty hot at that point. ![]() I know Kelly loves her bike, but... JEEZ!!! ![]() Next stop was in Newman. We pulled up to a wierd, out-of-nowhere duck pond and this cock stood very erect. ![]() Kelly saw some little ducklings and tried to get a closer look. The mother duckling saw Kelly in her leathers and scurried them away. I think she doesn't want her children talking to leather clad, tattooed bikers. ![]() This was my bike all loaded up. I tried to wheelie it, but when I landed the first wheelie the weight bounced it back up like a ball. I need to seriously re-do the forks and re-spring the rear shock. ![]() This is real art, son. Better recognize in the 2006. ![]() Last edited by SVsick50; 09-03-2006 at 07:44 PM.. |

So, Kelly and I finally arrive in Sonora. The town of Sonora was really old and creepy. We didn't know until the last day that there was a Starbucks and other signs of civilization. Oh well, I guess it really made us feel like we "roughed" it without our Venti triple non-fat vanilla iced latte.
Kelly was dolling up for our incredible 100 yard walk through town ![]() As you can see, I didn't need to doll up. I'm one sexy mutha-shut-your-mouth! ![]() Kelly just got out of Barbizon Modeling School. She hopes to start modeling for Sears. ![]() I used to model for Sears. But they didn't like me because I was "too ethnic" ![]() After Mexican food that night, we woke up the next morning and squidded into Jamestown 3 mi. away for breakfast. This place was small and everybody knew each other. ![]() Kelly didn't want to eat too much. Remember she's a model for Sears ![]() I shocked all of Jamestown with my modeling face ![]() I told you we squidded it. We went in t-shirts to breakfast, and that's safe. ![]() This guy was having a bad day. Everybody knows that wearing boots on THE OUTSIDE of your pants is so 1988. ![]() |

There's a neato Railroad deal in Jamestown. It was pretty dead (it was Friday) and Kelly and I spent a whole whopping 30 min. walking around. That's what I call a complete cardio workout.
Kelly tried to break into this gas pump to smell the leaded gas. I told her it was not working, but she's a huffing drug feind like that. ![]() Me, on the other had, was too busy being a model. ![]() #1 and #2 - The train is #2 you bastids!!! ![]() Here's to you Sears! ![]() OMG! I found my new suspension for the KLR!! ![]() This is the way young filipino men pose in Glamour Shots at the mall. ![]() |

Okay, now some riding pics. Ahhhh... you knew there had to be some motorcyle stuff sprinkled in this modeling/goo-goo-gaa-gaa-luvy-duby stuff, right?
We stopped at this little boat launch and got the classic "Ohh-my-bike-is-near-water" picture. ![]() ![]() I love this pic. Honestly, it represents us: love, each other and motorcycles. ![]() I saw this awesome sign. It was shocking. ![]() The new ad for Icon. ![]() We went to some place that had this gem panning contraption. I struck it rich and bought my own personal island on Craigslist. ![]() We went to Mercer Caverns. We didn't do the tour. It was 97 degrees and we'd be walking around in leather. ![]() That day we covered about 170 miles of riding, all the way up into Arnold on HWY 4 from Sonora. We had Chinese food (it was not very good), and Kelly got two fortunes that totally cancelled each other out. ![]() Kelly was exhausted from all the riding and that messed up fortune cookie. ![]() Outlaws BBQ. We didn't go here because I'm a hooligan, not an outlaw. ![]() Last edited by SVsick50; 09-03-2006 at 06:38 PM.. |

So, the next day was Saturday and the anticipated Yosemite ride. We took 120 all the way into Yosemite Valley. 120 was interesting... funny how if you crashed, you're pretty much falling a thousand feet to your death. Good Times.
Look at this hardcore motorcyclist ![]() If you've never ridden a thumper (dual sport, SuperMoto, etc.) this is how it looks like. It vibrates your ASS. ![]() This is Kelly at the Top of Old Priest Grade. We didn't take it into Yosemite, but we took it going out. Not many roads give me the whillies... but this one was another 1000 foot fall to your death. Cagers treated it like a race track. Twisty wise, it was about as twisty and narrow as HWY 35 connecting from Bear Creek Road off of HWY 17. ![]() Kelly at a Vista Point. Cool pic and nice pose ![]() |

Okay, okay. At that elevation with that bike, wheelies suck. However, no trip is complete without your fair share of hooliganism. A little power wheelie never hurt no one. That's what I tell the cops and it never works.
![]() ![]() We made it!!! Yah-Sa-Mite!! ![]() Without the posers ![]() Neato view and hot chick. ![]() Wow. ![]() ![]() Look at me. Walking advertisement for Troy Lee Designs. ![]() We are so small. Nature whoops our ass in every way. ![]() |

Kelly and I walked up to Bridal Veil Falls in gear. People were looking at us funny, but what was even funnier was watching some guy staring at us lose his baby stroller on a decline. No worries, no baby was harmed.
![]() Half dome and a hottie... ![]() Saturday was the last day of our trip, and today we came home. As you can see, we celebrated a little back at the Hotel, the Motel, the Holiday Inn. ![]() OMG!!! The life giving nectar of STARBUCKS!!! This started our trek back home, and in total we logged ~675 miles. ![]() All in all, the trip was amazing. We had a ton of fun, and of course, riding and spending time together was the best. I think I burned a fair amount of calories LAUGHING, because I seem to crack Kelly up until she has a hard time breathing. Kelly is very dear to me and a very wonderful part of my life. I get to share the most important passion in my life with her, and that is a gift. I have to say, I was very proud of her, too. Remember, she's only been riding 4 mos. with no previous motorcycle experience, so this was quite the trip for her. *next step - dirtbiking* Guys, get your woman to ride, or find yourself a woman who rides. I know I couldn't ask for more... -Dion |

Nice trip! That seems like fun. Only four months of riding for her. That's damn good, especially knowing you can fall down very far.

Oh, no trip is without damage assessment.
The KLR: Looks like the bike was jetted with the spark arrestor in it, so after a day of running funny without it, I threw it back in. I melted some buckles on my saddlebags, too. The Ninja 500: The chain adjuster cap thing went flying off on the sprocket side of the swingarm and the adjuster bolt bent. It's somewhere in Northern California. If anybody see's it, please PM me. Lesson learned - use threadlock. |
