hr's first sport touring adventure: pacific coast!

I would do a big writeup, but you guys will probably just scroll to look at the pictures...so here they are:

All loaded up minus tankbag.

Found this along Highway 1.

In Santa Cruz. A policeman rolled in on his awesome BMW. I asked him if he wanted to trade, and politely declined.

PCH was absolutely awesome. The stretch between Monterey and SLO had some fantastic turns and the suspension felt better with all the extra weight on the bike.

A beautiful shot of the coast

This bridge is simply breathtaking

That's my last shot from the ride down. My route was: 580W > 238 > 880S > 92W> 1 in Halfmoon Bay

Then, bombed all the way down to SLO, where I was planning on taking the 166 if the sun hadn't set. Instead, I took the 101 into Santa Barbara, where EVERYONE stared at me with my textiles, helmet, tankbag, huge backpack, and sleeping bag (I didn't feel safe leaving it on the bike). Then it was the 101 > 134 > 5S > 10E into West Covina, where I am now.

Tomorrow my gf and I are headed to Speed Way, a gokarting extravaganza place!

I've been thinking about doing that to visit a friend down in Newport Beach. Looks like a good ride, and sweet pics!

If anybody is headed down that way and wants a little side adventure take the dirt road right before that bridge to the left and it winds through the hills for about 12-13 miles and ends back on CA1.That was the road before they built the bridge back in the early 30's, it's called Old Coast Highway. It can be done on a street bike pretty easily but there are a couple rough sections, tons of fun on a dual sport.Used to ride it after it rained on my old xl600.

Man, seeing Hot Frog, WazzuFreddo, and Squid Viscious in this thread makes me wish that I could go to PnW more...I have taekwondo training every day except for Friday and Sunday, and that includes Wednesday nights. Next Wednesday I should get a break though, so I'll try to stop by.

More pictures later...I just got back from "speed zone" and I'm too tired to upload stuff...

Bonus points for anyone who knows where this awesome little stretch of highway is.

Highway 33, the best road I've ever driven...the pavement is new and sticky, the traffic is low, visibility is good, and it just stretches on and on. Said goodbye to some jeans-and-jacket sportbikers on a ZX10R, R6, and GSXR600 here

Notice anything interesting about this picture?

That's right yo, there's SNOW on the ground, about 5000 ft up. Now I know where to go when I want to join the mile high club

Caught this guy filling up in SLO, one of TWO that I saw during my trip.

Obligatory beach picture to finish it off.

For more pictures and writeups organized by road, check out my site: www.ninjawrench.com

Thanks for looking!

I'm not sure if the rear seat on the SV is removable, but since it's a Suzuki I assume it is. If that's the case, they probably make a touring luggage bag that bolts in, in replacement of the stock passenger seat.

Here it is on my TL:
