U.B.O.B. vs. Old Lady Death! (ubob 9; O.L.D. 0)

The title says it all. a bad ass time, with one very harrowing moment, but we'll get to that soon enough.

I didn't take too many photos. here's what I got.

I left friday, after getting up late, and took 24 to 160 and rode the delta to bad dad's house. from there, i went up to hwy 50, where it began to rain a bit, and it was flippin' cold.

apparently the nancies have backed out, and the rest of the guys are riding already.

thru placerville, gassed up, and i'm about 20 min ahead of the group, from the txt messages i'm getting. finally put my winter gloves on, and it was perfect.

I stopped here on hwy 50 for a quick shot.....

.. after dropping down from hwy 50, I caught hwy 89/88 towards woodford.

it was actually really nice, a bit wet on the ground....and not much dust/gravel on it too.

monitor pass still being closed, I went north to minden, then south on 395 to the 208 over to yarrington.

another gas stop, and I'm on the home stretch. with 59 miles to go.

once out on the valley floor...i started to get rain drops again, so i stopped to put on rain gear, and noticed these large white things landing on the bike...yep, you guessed it. SNOW!!! oh, great!!

so i'm hurrying to put my rain gear on, and get the hell out of dodge to try and beat the storm.

i thought i might go around it, but this is what i headed straight into...

I like this shot, cause of the way, the sun is shining from behind, casting a shadow, while it's looking pretty bleak ahead.

on the final stretch, and walker lake, just north of hawthorne. very nice road, and very fast road.

stopped for a shot of the lake, the mountains, the snow, and the town way in the background.

i arrived, went straight to the bar, and there was kevin, playing video poker. about 30min later, he won 100 bucks. nice.

we start drinking beer and more people start to show up, and we move over to Joe's Tavern for .50 cent beer. (all nite and all day)

got a call from will, that he left sf, about 6:30pm.

we drank some. and get a call that he's in south lake tahoe, and he's taking hwy 89 to 385. i thought 89 was closed.

well apparently, he got thru. he did get snowed on, and was checking the traction with his getaway sticks, and it felt fine. he pulls into hawthorne about midnite. thru rain, sleet, snow, etc...and all that shit.

that's all i got, someone else can start posting photos.

i know they got video, photos and a bunch of stories, that will probably stay in nevada, for the best.

edit:

the "oh shit" moment:

i was riding point, and noticed up the hill ahead of me, a car start to pass 2 cars, and figured, ok, it will get around them. still watching it, i quickly realized that the car doing the passing wasn't making any progress on said passing...so i started to drift to the shoulder, and then realized, this motherfucker isn't moving...and is coming straight on to us in OUR LANE!!!!

i moved over to the shoulder, raised my hand to motion to the side, and watched as those behind me moved over, and i'm hoping everyone moved over and saw this old cunt in time. yes, and old bag, at the wheel, not even flinching as she went right thru us. and everyone scattering.

well, being that we were in a group, and people are scattering from the front...Jason didn't see it till the last minute, and managed to swerve out of the way in time, but came within inches of the rear view mirror, not to mention the front of the car.

we pulled over, and it took a while, and we all chilled. a very close call, and leyla saw it, and emma thought he was going to get hit.

It sucks, the last thing I ever want to witness or live thru is watching a buddy of mine get creamed on the hwy.

things turned out well, it wasn't anyone's time today, and Old Lady Death can suck my cock!!!!!

fuck that bitch!!!!

we are home, and had a great time.

edit: emma also had a close call, from a park ranger, no less. as we were riding on hwy 88, and there was a small gap, between her and the bike ahead of her, and the dickhead, moved into her lane, to scrub speed, and then pulled off on her side of the road.

so for a second there, she was head on with a truck, and had to swerve out of the way. what the fuck! we took a break over an awesome overlook right after that. we weren't riding crazy either, a safe pace due to the debris in the road.....just some tool, who decided to turn off the road in front of her and probably wasn't paying attention.

I had a dumb bitch pull the head on thing on my up at Beryessa a couple years ago. Passed over the double yellow and I figured she'd pull back in when she saw me, but she just kept coming. Barely scraped by on the side of the road. Hopefully karma caught up with her.

Glad you guys had fun.

This is what happens when fuckers speed up while you're trying to pass them. Only thing is, once it becomes an unsafe pass, you're supposed to get on the brakes and get back in your lane. What a dumb bitch.
