Some Tahoe pics

We went and had a fucking blast! We left late on Thursday and were trying to make it over 108 before it got dark, so we didn't stop to take as many pics as we would have liked. I should've taken some pics of 207 but by that point we only had about 30 minutes of sunlight left. On Friday, the road was just too nice making it hard to decide if we should stop or just keep riding.

Things I learned on this trip: a Crampbuster is definitely an essential, especially on the 80-100 miles of slabbing into and past Oakdale. Ipod with good noise isolating earphones helped take the sting out of the windblast. A great fitting helmet is a must; I bought a new helmet just for this trip and after 2 hrs in the saddle, my old helmet would've popped my head like a zit.

108 is a beautiful road, especially with snow on the peaks. It gets extremely tricky after the smooth, sweeping part, turning into a steep climb and descent with tight tight tight turns. On that part, we probably didn't go more than 10-15mph.

This is one of the straightest, flattest sections on 108 after it gets tight. It was getting pretty cold at this point.

Finally after dealing with the slow, tight parts of 108, we hit 395 which is as open as anything out there. Beautiful country with long, high speed sweepers.

Some of you might know this store. Gassed up and ate a sandwich here as we were heading into Nevada.

Hwy. 88 about a 1/4 mile from the 89 intersection. Just beautiful...

This was our last stop to take pictures. Hwy. 88 might be one of the best roads in CA. It certainly puts everything to shame around here with the scenery alone. Too bad it's so far

My weak ass attempt at being artistic

Just beautiful

After 88 we took 49 back to 108 and slabbed it home. Obligatory mileage pic...not that bad.

Hope you enjoyed! I think I'm addicted! I'm already planning my next 3 day'r up to Hwy. 36 via Hwy. 1

What beautiful pictures! It looks gorgeous up there, and the roads look great! That one pic of the sky, with the bikes, very cool- the blue of the sky is reflected in the mirror, looked really cool and artistic!
Looks like it was a great ride, I've wanted to do something like that again... longest I did was 1001 miles round trip in 5 days (no riding for 2 of them, tho)... but nowhere near this pretty!

Not to nitpick, but none of that is really Tahoe. Its accually a different forest all together. However, those are some great shots. Did you see that smashed up trailer at the Walker gas station? I've never seen anything like it, must have been some kind of wreck. On a side note, you have not fully experienced that portion of the eastern Sierra without eating at Walker Burger. Worth a stop every time. Good people too, they feed some of the firefighters for free when the hills are burning.

That really was an amazing trip. Everything went smoothly without and issues, the company was great, and I got to ride the most beautiful roads I've ever ridden before. It's too bad that we didn't leave on Wednesday, I would have loved an extra day to ride the roads around Tahoe. Unfortunately, I had a little run in with a minivan on my bike on Tuesday and was questioning going at all. Thankfully Lumpia talked me into it and I'm glad he did, this was probably the best absolute way to recover from an accident.

Anyhoo, on with some of the pics I took

On the side of 108. That road was FUN! Quite possibly my favorite road on this trip. Well at least the really tight section

A couple shots on the side of 395

After the twisties were done, the freway ride home was so painful. The stock seat on the DR feels like it's made of wood after 60 miles on the freeway. I think I'll invest into getting a Corbin seat this year because I most definitely want to do more trips like this.

You know, you're right. Funny though, I don't have 1 pic of when we were actually in Tahoe I'll give Walker Burger a shot next time I'm up there, thanks for the suggestion.

Hey Miran
I'm probably going to be out of town on Friday. Hit me up next week if you're not in Davis.
