Anza, Pala, Palomar

Went riding again yesterday and today. Here are a few pics from along the way. I rode Sage Road both days. It was so much fun I couldn't stop to take pictures. Something about turns over blind crests that keep me going. The long parades of cruisers were out. Noticed a CHP R11 in my blind spot just in time before I launched from the light next to about 30 of them. Had a good time running up and down Palomar South Side and East Grade. Met a few old friends hanging out at the top of the mountain.

View point on 74.

Stopped by the view point at the top of 74 over looking Palm Desert. There were large groups of tourers and cruisers.

A little rest stop first.

The Cahuilla Market. They had the new age music going and the wind chimes blowing. You just never know about these little road side places. This is on the Cahuilla Indian Reservation. The big casino is just down the road.

Starting up East Grade Road

This road is really best shown with a video. Once I got going I didn't want to stop.

Somebody got Schooled

Yep I come whipping up the road and see a glimpse of a bike and then I am looking at a big oil slick. So a quick line change and then time to check out the scene.

When you get to Mothers before your bike

it isn't a good thing. So here is the dude. I had a chat with him. Nice guy, kind of bummed. His first time down East Grade Road. He saw it in a video on a web site and had to try it out. The turn at the end of a long straight tightened up and he hit the back brake and whammy. Down he goes. He had a few comments about how crashes happen and so on. Welcome to school. I think he should forget self tutoring and try following an instructor next time. And get off the back brake and just turn the bike.

Then I met the new queen of the mountain

and her name was Heather. And the dudes were saying, "dude that chick passed me. Damn is she getting faster or what." I followed Heather down and back. I was glad that I still remembered the road. She was pretty quick.

Everybody needs one of these...

turns out I knew the guy from way back. He owns too many bikes, if there is such a concept.
