Eureka Trip 3/13-14/04

This weekend, I had a chance to hit up Hwys 299, 3, 36, and 96. I could not believe it! I don't think a smile left my face the entire time I rode. Here is but a small view of what I felt and saw. These are the most amazing roads. I rode over 350 miles, and the fun never stopped.

It was lots of this.

This curve was on Hwy 299. I rode it back and forth because it was so much fun. It had to be about 200 degrees or so.

This is the same curve from later on in the road looking down. You can see the road above and below and the downhill warning sign.

Bridge on Hwy 299 near Chezem Road. A friend rode with me today (who you will see later) and took me on a bypass goat trail through the canyon below (Chezem Road). What a blast.

Hwy 299 follows the Trinity River for a long time. Nice long sweeping curves, esses, and very few straights. It's a great place to practice keeping your line and lean because many sweepers were 160 - 180 degrees.

Here's a big sweeping 180 near Weaverville. The mountains around still have snow on them. BTW, I only saw 1 CHP all weekend, and there was VERY little traffic, which is remarkable for Saturday and Sunday.

Ate at Miller's Drive In in Weaverville. Great food, and they still wait on you in your cage if you want them to.

Took Hwy 3 from east of Weaverville toward Hayfork, which eventually ends at Hwy 36. What an awesome road. There were lots of these.

From the Hayfork Summit, you could see the beautiful surrounding mountains.

Hwy 36 was just incredible. I think Pashnit describes it as a roller coaster. What a ride!
