I think the unmasked patrons at Sturgis bars and concerts were probably bigger factors, but I'm not gonna post up 17 charts in an attempt to prove it.

The way I understand it, masks don't provide 100% protection. Masks slow the speed and reduce the distance of exhale, which is one (or the greatest?) mean to propagate the virus to others. Being within standard bar/concert distances, numbers and confines kind of defeat the purpose of masks. Your exhale will reach others. And you will inevitably touch surfaces and bodies that have the virus. But wait, I have 18 charts.

You started off good. Masks REDUCE the amount of virus that gets out into the air.

That does 2 things. It reduces the amount in the air, probably reduces the material that protects and maintains the virus in the air.

Both of those factors do something else. They reduce the payload that a person takes in, which is a (possibly key) factor in their outcome.

It's not a perfect solution, but think about the small adjustments that you can do with your riding that can significantly increase your odds of going home at the end of your ride.

Small things add up.

Call it a "rally" if that serves your point but don't ignore the ironic fact that the mask wearer vs mouth breather ratio is completely inverted.

Too close to home? How do you know that anyway? It's the same IMHO. BTW, did you go?

I was there the last two weekends...pretty sure you weren't. Masks were required in the same way restaurants and businesses currently require them in Santa Clara County...which is already 100% more than the state of South Dakota, Meade County or even the city of Sturgis required during any portion of the week long event.

Oh yeah, there's that whole week versus day thing too...

Ah come on man. Ridiculous comparison.

No strippers. No poles. No drunken laughing in others face. Not slammed in a bar with 25-100 others ...Etc.

Was having dinner in Folsom last week at cousins with a number of medical professionals discussing this. It was fascinating as Covid appears to be load sensitive unlike many other virus's (to my knowledge.) I.e. the more load you are exposed to, the higher the probability of a much more serious case.

Well, I'm out then! wait... where is everyone going? No Baja and no adult entertainment at the tail end of the trip this year either.

You can always go to the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show in Vegas which also coincides with the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.

CES used to be on the same weekend, nerds and porn.

Now that sounds like a blast! But even this flat earther (sarcasm) isn't risking large crowds and a lap dance just isn't the same with a mask.
