Spark Arrestor for KLR650?

I want to ride the LA-Barstow-To-Vegas event over thanksgiving.

The brochure says they will check for a spark arrestor.

I want to know if my stock 2008 KLR650 needs a new farkle or the OEM exhaust is good enough?

It would be a shame to drive all the way to Palmdale and not be allowed to ride.

one of my betters here in the Dirty BARFing subforum will correct me if I'm mistaken, but I've always heard that the stock KLR exhaust counts as a spark arrestor.

I've never had a problem with my stock-exhaust KLR at the Sheetiron, and know they inspect for them, there.

if you've ever seen the convoluted route the exhaust takes through the muffler, that may be a clue for us. silver lining to the iconic KLR exhaust note "whistle" maybe.

I'd be flabbergasted if the OEM silencer isn't USFS approved. The oem Honda XR's pipes are approved.

OEM pipes like that are usually multi chambered, think it would very hard if not impossible for a spark to get through. All pipes that are approved, are stamped on the can itself to my knowledge, even OEM ones I've owned. Look for an imprint engraved on the can with the information.

Enjoy LaB2V! Fantastic event.

It said in the manual for the 2014.5 model year I had that it was, can't imagine it being any different.

Check out pages 41/114 as it lists that the KLR is on the approved list as it was rated USFS compliant from factory.

It should be USFS approved if you have the stock exhausts somewhere on it, as long as it's stock.

Good luck riding the big old KLR through all that sand, it is possible but a lot of work. Remember you gotta ride it like it's a race if you want to finish.

I've conquered LAB2V on a heavy dual sport I'm ready to tackle the hardstuff with a light weigh bike like a KLX.

There's a KLR650 on this clip right here
