BILL'S BIRTHDAY RIDE. Sept 19, 2021

Time for Bill's Birthday Ride Sept 19, 2021.

Because of the cost and restrictions of going over Tioga Pass, going to be a different ride this year. Meet at Starbuck, 4426 Waterloo Rd, Stockton, CA 95215. Just east of Hwy 99. KSU at 8:15. If you want coffee come earlier. No breakfast stop this year. First gas Camp Connell, 80 miles out. Lunch at Mountain View Bar B Q in Walker CA. 75 miles from first gas. Should be gas in Walker*. South on 395 to Hwy 108 and over Sonora Pass. Gas in Cold Springs, 70 miles from Walker. From Cold Springs we will take Hwy 108 to O'Bryrions Ferry Road over to Copperopolis. Then Hwy 4 back to Stockton. 300-mile loop

Stops planed at Leavitt Falls Vista Point and Donnell Vista. Both are great views that most drive-by.

Going to be a good ride. Note Fire or Rain could cancel. Let hope all the fires are out.

Bill

*Gas in Walker had been hit and miss in the past. If you can not make 150 miles from Camp Connell to Cold Springs. And no gas in Walker, it is 14 miles from Walker to Topaz lake NV. I will call and check on gas in Walker. If no gas those who need to fill gas can turn to Topaz, 7 miles up 395 from when we come off Monitor Pass.

Sounds like a plan, if 88 is open. I did the 'round' trip twice last month. The first time was 4 returning on 88. Then 88 return on 4. Although I think eastbound 4 is faster, westbound 4 is more scenic. Perhaps that accounted for the speed differential? Both times the pavement was perfect with very little traffic concerns. Beware of the CHPer. I believe he/she hangs around Camp Connell. First trip the CHPer was a few miles east of Camp Connell, parked in westbound direction. I buzzed by, not in 3 digit territory, but fast enough for a red light notification. Probably would have received a 'present' https://www.bayarearidersforum.com/f...lies/horse.gif if he/she was pointed in the same direction.

Don’t think I’ve been out that way before, and this looks like a real nice ride. Mind if I join?

Hope you can make it. The weather is looking good without high heat in the valley.

Will there be cake?
I plan to meet y’all at Camp Connell or for lunch in Walker.
If there is cake probably should avoid all those candles purely for environmental purposes!
