Things I learned from this thread: Real riders ride shit roads and like it.

That's not to say you're not a real rider if you don't like shit roads.

Having never heard of "Forks of Salmon" before this thread, I just looked it up. I see a town ('town' might be generous, from the looks of it) called Forks of Salmon, with three roads (Salmon River, Cecilville, and Sawers Bar) leading to/from it. What's the recommended route amongst those three?

Ive been on Salmon River Road. Pretty damn awesome. Just went in and back out to 96 since I was low on gas.

A few other riders I was with took Scott River Road south from 96 to 3 and had lunch in Etna then Sawyers Bar to Salmon River out to 96. They said it was all great!!

Salmon river road is the scary one I believe, but the others are also good rides from what I hear.

When we rode it during the rally a couple of years back, this is the route we took, IIRC.

That's a fun one! I took my group on that during the fall rally last year, and we had a ball! Big, big penalties for screwing up!

The roads less than 5 miles from your home. That's where most accidents happen. Logically, they're the most challenging. The good news is, no one has to go far to find them!

Don't know about challenging, but it certainly is fun!

Oh man, I rode that thing after it was freshly patched on my way back from OR last year. Parts of 96 was being chipsealed on my way through. Some sections were literally finished 5 minutes before I arrived.

In any case Klamath is tits awesome. Here's hoping i get to go back through it again next year.

Man all of this is giving me a sport tour Jones right now.
