...well, after all the festivities with the state trooper, we made our way to the border, and gassed up one last time. 2 blocks away, we rode over the international border into mexico, and there was no guards, or officials at their post where the cars go by. the way it works is that your car/motorcycle/vehicle rolls over some sensors, and a stop light (green/red light) comes on. if you get a green light, you just keep going. if you get a red light, you pull in to get checked. no big deal. we all hit the green light, and kept rolling. after an overcorrected left hand turn, and getting directions from the locals who pointed in the general direction of rocky point and said "derecho, derecho" "straight, straight" we finally made it onto hwy. 2, and began the 120 mile run. i think i put 180 miles on the map i had on my bag, earlier. but it was 120 miles. total of 180 miles thru mexico...but whatever. mctaco went up front as his headlamp is way brighter than mine, and drew was behind me with his st1300, and we all just turned our mirrors down, and lit up the road.

in mexico while driving along the hwys. most people run with their high beams on, and when you get near a car, you'll see them turn their lights down, and you concur. i think uncertainty, and the desire to see better, kept us from doing this right away, and i kept getting flashed by truckers at the last minute, who were letting drew (right behind me) know, that he still had his high beams on. which kept making me go blind for a few brief seconds. everyone finally got the jist of it, and figured, you just had to change your lights up and down. it worked out well. 18 wheelers would signal us to be able to pass, and we increased our pace to about 80-90 mph throughout most of it. i think i saw the tail end of about 2 or 3 coyotes/dogs running off the road. all in all, it was an exhilirating ride, with a bit of tension, and just enough adrenalin, to make everyone forget how tired we were, and not feel the pain in our backsides. we kept a tight pack formation, and everyone rode in it, like they'd ridden in groups all their life. i like that, no having to dick around with someone that is all over the place. we were synched up for passing and riding at the pace we chose and it made the event that much smoother.

here is some photos of us, when we arrived in sonoyta, sonora, just across the border from Lukeville, Arizona, and before our final leg of 60 miles to Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco).

....and another. the kids on the left, walked up to each bike, and looked at the speedometers, and were chit chatting to each other, on which one was the fastest bike. they all pointed at mine, and said, it had to be the fastest....hahahahaha, see, blinging accesories are good for something. s.

i pointed them towards stan's bike, and said, his goes 205mph.

they didn't know what I was talking about, so i converted it to kph. = 342 kph

Wow, even the gas station is representing Mexican colors. Rick, if you keep breaking master links either:

A. Lose some weight.

B. Buy a BMW.

Nice write-up. Where are the incriminating :boobies pix?

And are you going to do another run this summer?

yep, state (government) owned gas station. PEMEX (Petroleos Mexicanos)

and I will do NEITHER A OR B!
the officer said i weighed 215, and i'm sticking by that!

boobie pix, may be found in kitchen sink. . nothing to incriminate, but some good shit to show later.

if i go to mexico, it will be further south than rocky point, and somewhere more mexican than american. we're thinking of running to vancouver, b.c. though. they have some of the best peeler bars anywhere.

i think stan, or tim took some pics when we finally arrived at the baja hotel. where we promptly checked in, took our bags upstairs, changed into jammers, flip flops and t-shirts, and walked over to club tropical to watch the college kids bumping and grinding while we drank beer, ate some tacos and mulled over the entire days events. the beer was very cold, the tacos very tasty, and the scenery gorgeous. this was about midnite that we arrived to rocky point, and finally crashed out near 3 am. 22 hours awake, 17 hours riding and 3 hours drinking at the end. what a fucking day! more pics. to come, stan, tim, bryan....chime in any time fellas, and start posting what you want.

i'll continue to post mine as a timeline as best as possible.

going to get coffee and then off to see boondock saints in dublin. peace out.
