What's the camping like at DV - smooth ground for a good pad? My old body can't take the rocky sh*t anymore - brought a cot and my new thick pad to Stonybarf and slept like a king If the ADV DV Rally is anything like the ADV Mendo Rally, I gotta do it

And yes come to the next Stonybarf and I'll ride with ya...some great fire roads and trails - we may have to trade bikes for a bit - I need a fix of Strom playing in the dirt...

Thanks, T. I'd gladly play at Stony with you. I raked the spot where I laid my pad down and that helped a lot. I slept really well there. There's an ADV rally in a few weeks, "WARPED" at the Kernville MRA camp ground.

Yep. I've got room reservations set, can't wait to get back up there! I think I'll bring a small gas can this time.

Oh yeah, I see you've got your own going on just before that weekend - Gonna go back to back?

Mine is the next month.

GRATUITOUS PHOTOS OF STUFF:

Yellow flowers:

Orange flowers

Pretty in purple

My bike looking cool.

Why yes, I am a nerd.

And here's my one shot from the ride home, which I did like this:

MAP

This route took me 8:45 to complete, with breaks. I stopped in Coso Junction to answer nature's call, got gas in Wofford Heights (did not get off bike) stopped to take one photo (below), then did not stop again until the intersection of 5 and 198. I stopped there for a quick bite and gas. Got gas in San Mateo (did not get off) and was at the bar, seated and enjoying a shot by 6:45 because it was poutine night and I don't miss that.

My one photo from my ride home. I was loving the big orange patch on the mountain.

That concludes this broadcast of the two wheel tramping system. Until next time.

Wonderful ride report!

Always fun to see
how people solve the
Central Valley crossing ...

I'm guessing that your route
would take me over eleven hours ...

see you around
the campfire,

Thanks, John, that's a big compliment coming from you. It's the first one I have actually completed.

I found taking 46 to be WAY preferable to 198. In retrospect I should have taken 190 to 5 to 198 instead of 198. But there's something a lot more palatable about a two lane highway over a freeway. I was able to enjoy some more orange groves on my way home and that was alright. My ride home was really efficient because I was by myself. I can ride without breaks for a long time but I know it's not everyones cup of tea to do so.

Thanks Matt and Tom. I leave tomorrow for another ride... with SFMCJohn no less. Maybe I'll scribble out a ride report again.
