Yeah, I wish I could make it to the shoot, but it's just bad timing for me, with the school quarter starting the following day, I have to be in Davis There'll be other times, I'm not in a hurry anyway, since I'm pretty low on 7.62x54R and the M59 isn't in yet (and I'll have to spend a couple bucks on the SKS to make it cooler...like that 1" rubber butt-pad and that steel bipod you can get online for $15, among other things ).

It can be dangerous because you don't always want the gun to fire when you're just closing the bolt to chamber a round.
Oh yeah, and when the gun's off doing slam-fires, there's no way to make it stop.
Aka run away gun, the gun fireing with the bolt open could also throw shrapnel from the caseing. Rembere when I had some of that shit loged in my arm? Not fun.

I bet he did that to avoid the embarrassment of being seen in public with an SKS.

I bet he scraped his face up though!

What the hell are you talking about? Who said anything about M16s?

Look, even the Bosnians are representing with the SKS...and we all know if the Bosnians are doing it, it must be good!

HAHAHA Pwn3d!1!!!

That happens during formation when you lock your knees while standing. In Navy boot camp they cautioned you not to lock your knees during the graduation ceremony for this reason. Something about a combination of the heat and standing with your knees locked for long periods of time can make you passout. It was kinda funny during the ceremony you would occassionally hear a rifle fall to the ground followed closely by a thump.

It's a better gun when you clean it twice a day, keep it dry, don't let it touch the ground, and pray to God twice a day to let bullets come next time you squeeze the trigger in a firefight.

You don't know shit. Until you've spent some time with the AR, and really knows what it's all about, you're just repeating what every other ignorant dumbshit out there says about the M16 series. I've spent days crawling around the fucking Panamanian jungle with one, swam with it across a couple of swamps, and all you gotta do is drain the bolt and the fucking thing will fire. Weak caliber issues aside, there's a reason why it has lasted as long as it has in our military.

Calm down there guy. The M16 is a decent weapon and so is the SKS.

Alan, notice the strategic placement of the "" and "" in my previous post...I was kidding!!!

Yeah, there's obviously a reason a 1963 concept is still in use in 2004 with only a few minor changes. A lot of people prefer the M16 (like John Kerry ), some like M14s, some like AKs..I'd just like to say that from second-hand experience, a Simonov carbine is not a bad weapon to have when shit hits the fan. What are your other options of CA-legal semi-auto rifle with a decent caliber under $300? Pretty much the Mini-30, right? Beats fighting the revolution with a Mosin Nagant

Arnie vetoed SB1140 and SB1152. Guess 2 out of 3 isn't too bad.

http://www.nramemberscouncils.com/legs.shtml#sb1140

SB 1140 CRIMINAL STORAGE INCREASED PENALTIES (Defeated) - This bill would make criminal storage of a firearm of the 3rd degree punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding 6 months, by a fine not exceeding $1,000, or by both that fine and imprisonment and a ten-year prohibition on possession of firearms.

SB 1152 AMMUNITION SALES REGISTRATION (Defeated) - Would require any person engaged in the retail sale of ammunition to record the date, the name, address, and date of birth of the transferee, a thumbprint, and to make the information available to peace officers. This bill would also outlaw the sale of ammunition to a person under 18 years of age.

Thanks for the update, I wasn't sure which way he was going to go after banning the .50s.

And my AR15 has been 100% minus a blown primer from some crappy S&B ammo. And it is an Oly fankengun.
