cool GORY post-op ankle pic (NSW)...let's see yours!!

BAD NEWS!! STAPH INFECTION 4/3
The last pic is the current state

Hi all!
This was done monday 2/18 am. For those of you that know me, you knew I was waiting for a bone donor for oer a month. Finally SURGERY DAY CAME AND WENT!! I had a bone graft to the talus and the botom of my fibula had been broken off, that was removed and the tendons and ligs were re-attatched and another peice of bone fragment was located and removed...OUCH!

UPDATE: a day after ariving home from the hospital I developed these crazy muscle spasms in my back and shoulder and couldn't move because of the pain and knotting.ER twice and then they admit me...thurs 2/21... MRI the following teusday revealed 2 bulging discs and a pinched nerve...GREAT. Meanwhile, I'm in there for a week and I keep asking them to please look at my ankle because of recent surgery and the most the ortho doc there does is take the outer wrap off and add more gauze wrapping.......never even looked at the inscision. Finally it's starting to really bug me so thurs night I took all the dressing off and showed the nurse...........he at least put new dressing on but said there was nothing he could do. The next am I got my friend to get me out of there and get me to my surgeon who was about 2 hours away and saw me as soon as I got there. He took one look and said he had to go back in because of the potntial infection. Short story getting longer..... I get admitted to a different hospital asap and 7 hours later he did surgery again to clean it up (still having constant spasms only calmed by torodal).
So here we are over two weeks later and I'm finally out of hospital and back 'home' and got some things done to my back today. Yay! But how can I resist not posting more pics!! I know! I'm sick! First 3 are right after first surg.not so bad .......next is at the bogus hospital and then after the clean up surg

AND KUDOS to SEPH who came over just before going into surgery AND bringing me a charger for my phone!!! love ya bud!! At least I paid him back with entertaining morphene laced jibberish text messages

Thought I would share the gore! for the whole story(if you're that bored) http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=608093

H20 ski accident in june of 06 broke the talus..they should have plated it so the bone doesn't lose circulation and start to die, which is what happened.
Then a lowside skid/crash that Dec. on the street where my foot got stuck under the bike and skidded rolled to the outside. Dislocated the ankle, 5 fractures, 2 torn ligs and ripped the tendon off the bone....That was a year ago...........
The other part of the surgery after the graft was to remove the bottom part of the fibula which had been broken off since dec and (re-)attatch the tendons and ligs to the bone above.
It hurts pretty good right now...
