Thanks for sharing and for the needed wake-up reminder to riders that "stuff" can happen anytime...

When you have those 'off' days, just ask yourself, "Aren't you curious to see how your life will turn out?" Sometimes when things seem the darkest, an awesome thing happens. Hang in there!!

I'm glad to see you posting; you're always welcome here, and at any of the meets/parties, too!

And yes - sidecars!

Why is it always SUV drivers...I'm pretty tired of seeing soccer moms in big SUVs rolling around town and they can't barely operate them safely. Didn't one of the barfer's relative ran over his bike in the driveway recently? And you're eating up the oil resources and screwing the environment. Unless these people are going on offroad expeditions then they have a good use for these vehicles. You don't need a Chevy Tahoe to drop your kids off at school or to go to Safeway. WTF? These people should be driving a Toyota Corolla.
First of all, my prayers go out to you and thank you for sharing ur story. PLEASE stay on barf and involved in motorcycling even if it's just discussing the subject. I can only imagine what I would feel like under your circumstances as I am not in ur shoes. As far as the suv issue. These are the same people who love their children so much that they would drive something that is killing their kids environment. I don't like to use the word hate becuz it's such a strong word, but, yes I do HATE suvs. Atleast when I ride my bike it's for the thrill of a HP to weight ratio no other apperatus (atleast that I can afford) can deliver. Can't these suv drivers get a high off of something else?

Adam,

Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. I don't think I've met you before, but I admire your courage, spirit and attitude. I can't imagine being in your situation, but if I were I would hope that I too, would have no regrets about riding.

The human spirit is an amazing thing. And the ability we have to adapt is pretty amazing. Stay in touch with your friends here on BARF. I'm sure you have much you can teach us. And don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

Deb

I ended up underneath his suv with a broken neck. The amazing firefighters that responded and a spinal fusion saved my life. I have never regretted my choice to ride since my accident, in fact I miss riding most of all and hope to one day ride again.
Just thought I would share my story, and I hope I'll still be allowed to stay here on barf. Thanks to all the good people on here and ride safe.

Also as others have said, advances are starting to be made in nerve regeneration so keep up that positive attitude and here is hoping

Yes, is it? 'Cause I have an enormous messenger bag and am old hat at delivering snacks on a bike.

I'm serious, if you need groceries or household stuff picked up, by all means PM me.

Adam,

Thank you for posting your story and best of luck with your recovery.

I've noticed that many people have offered to help, and I encourage you ask if you ever need anything. You sound like a very strong and independent person, and I know it can be especially hard to ask for help when that is part of your character. I haven't been here long, but I've learned that people on BARF genuinely do care about each other, and they will go far out of their way to help if you ask. It's clear that many people here find joy in helping others, so don't hesitate to ask for help.

As other people have said, please do stay on BARF and continue to post. Also, I hope to see you at gatherings in the near future, and I'm looking forward to meeting you.

I think he's holding out asking for help until some of the BARF wimmenz offer to come over and give him a tongue sponge bath.

Yikes, Adam. A powerful story to share, yet a story that simply sucks. It broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry for your misfortune.

Please do use me and abuse of me as a resource if you need a hand with mundane chores around the house.

All the best, cheers, love,

Marc.

Yeah, Adam is no fool. He's waiting for the best offer.

By the way, I should've said this before, Adam, but let me know if you just want to hang out. I'm always happy to make new friends.

I've been meaning to get to a Giants game to watch Lincecum roast some fools. Let me know if you like baseball and would like to go along. Or, we can just go down to the park and watch the wimmenz stroll by.

I'll echo the others with a "loss for words"... My uncle cousin (technically a cousin but as old as an uncle so he gets called uncle) rolled his jeep back in the 70's and is in your same position. He hunts and fishes and does other amazing things doctors once told him were impossible..

your post already reveals your good attitude... I too hope one day we all can ride together again.

Stem cell research and nerve regeneration ASAP... let's get working on this science!
