Medical animation -- fixing the broken bits

http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v..._M9wM&vq=large

This is a pretty amazing animation of fixing a bunch of different broken bits.

While the gent in the video gets the injury from a fall from a ladder many of these are common to serious moto injuries too.

All hail the doctors that can make us work after major injuries.
If you follow racing you no doubt have seen young athletes hurt and make amazing comebacks.

This stuff is part of the reason why.

Good find! That was pretty cool. I had actually wondered how some of that stuff was actually done.

Pretty amazing.. and the lack of reality so to speak made it easier to watch.

Considering how many bones I broke and never had any screws or plates or rods is also amazing as the new school technology has overcome the old school "set it cast it and hope for the best" mentality.

Very cool! I needed to see that today. Just got out of a follow up appointment with my Neurosurgeon regarding the titanium he just installed in my neck a month and a half ago. Healing very well but man am I battling to get my legs and body back.

Cool plate he installed. I'm quite smitten with the purple screws.

Whoa Tim. Hope your feeling OK.

The docs really are amazing...and many times the patients are too. Having stuff like that done amazes me. Specially the surgeries you are not just reacting to because of a major injury that demands it.

Going thru the thought process of needing it, worrying about it and following thru with it takes guts.

I have the same hardware C5-C7. It took about a year before I started to function semi-normal again.

Best of luck.

Haha before reading content I was wondering how YOU were doing. I've done enough damage to myself also.

I work for an orthopaedic company and I've seen all of this stuff pre-installation. It's pretty cool to see it first hand. Not sure if I could stomach watching an actual procedure though.
