Was it posted how much in the red, the AFM was for that round? Would $25-50 more, for the first race, have eliminated that?
Sonoma is about 46% more expensive than Thill. We recover about 50% of that difference in higher fees, but that increase over Thill is about $85, track to track. We'd need to make it $170 more to make up the complete difference. Instead, we've crept prices from BW/ TH to make up for the Sonoma expenses. When people ask for more Sonoma's, I just see more chance for losses with the limited ridership we're dealing with.

BTW, it has almost always been this way; even in the mid 2000's when the AFM was flush with cash, we lost money on the later Sonoma rounds. Go figure...tons of riders and we still shelled out. I don't think riders would want to pay near $500 to race 1 practice/ 3 races at Sonoma.

Thanks for answering guys, I incorrectly thought you had the same pricing at all the rounds.

Odd it was that way back in the 2000's with the bigger grids. I agree $500 for 1 practice and 3 races seems a bit steep.

I know it may not work, but for the 2nd Sonoma round could you run the Sunday program both days, and therefore get more race revenue. I know WERA runs a few dual raceday formats in each region. At CVMA all weekends are run that way.

It might require practice on Friday's which those clubs offer. In both cases they have 2 rounds of morning practice and in CVMA's case they have a 3rd round which is qualifying, then run the entire daily program. In CVMA's case, on Sunday morning, they just offer one round of practice and head right into the races.

I know you guys run some Saturday clubman races, so I'm not sure how that could be combined, but maybe 1/2 the Sat program on Saturday and the other half on Sunday? Which would still allow double race weekend for the main classes and a Formula Pacific race each day.

That's a good idea: if we race on a weekend with a holiday, let's take advantage of the holiday! (I mean the royal we since I can't make that weekend). That said, from what I understand, the dates are hard to choose since we are given very few options from the tracks. Maybe for 2017?

Corey already posted it like two weeks ago, I just didn't look hard enough (it's like 3 threads down). I asked the mods to delete this thread so I didn't look so foolish, but alas, here we are.

Buttonwillow as the finale again? It was a HUGE LOSER Financially for everyone even the club. Wow sorry flame away but i think the schedule sucks. I would like to see at least ONE race in summer are you all too delicate to race in mid july?? And who likes to have the last one at BW? NO one shows up hardly.

Flame suit on..but sorry i think the club deserves a better schedule.
See you in Portland again in July

How did you come up that the club lost money at BW when you're not a member? Why would you think we lost money (and didn't make money) at BW? You said this statement to me earlier and I corrected you (about Thill too).

The club put considerable money in the bank in rounds 6 and rounds 7. In fact, the second half of the year was significantly better than it ever has been since I've been on the board. The summer break and the improving economic conditions are the most likely reasons. What we did seems to have had a positive influence on our second half seasons numbers.

Or maybe you're taking about a different club that lost money and not the AFM.

Saturday Morning have 1 hour of practice, then have the normal scheduled Saturday Races, and one of the largest races like 600 prod, or F1 before lunch. After Lunch, have a practice session for those in the 4-hour only, then race the 4-Hour, or Tag-Team, or whatever you want to call it. Maybe have (2) 2-Hour Races for heavyweight, and Lightweight, so the speed differentials are not so extreme. Entry could determine this.

Practice? Have Friday as the Practice/Test Day with sessions long enough to figure out fuel mileage.

Why doesn't AFM host the Friday Test Days on a race weekend?
