I have a 600rr and never had enough space to try a throttle first gear wheelie so always played with clutching it up in first. I've gotten the front off the ground but only for a split second. I have the wheelie teach bar to prevent the 12 o'clock to loop but i'm no where near that.
Where are there wheelie schools? |

One motion with clutch and throttle. Don't let the clutch Gi slowly flick it. Like a clutch kick driving a car you just kick the clutch. But this you want to pull in and let go at the same time add some gas to it. Just remember one motion and go about 15 mph. I have stock gearing on my zx6r comes up smooth all the time just remember o keep yor foot on rear break practice by just being in the position your think yor goin to e and tap the rear brake don't jab on it just tap lightly to engage it a little coming down ou wanna add a little gas so you don't land so hard. Landing hard all the time you will blow fork seals

I did this and a cop rolled up on me and pulled me over. He let me go and of course threatened to impound my bike and give me a reckless driving ticket next time. I dont think he saw me but heard my loud exhaust lifting the bike up.

Tired of that typo being on the main page for the last six weeks.
I know my bike has plenty of torque ('96 Monster 900) and I've done exactly three inadvertent wheelies when blasting off from a stop. None were very impressive, I think the best one probably got the wheel a foot off the ground (which in reality was probably closer to 6") for maybe 20 yards before a gentle let-down. Each time I've tried to replicate it, though, all I end up doing is taking off fast. I guess it was just perfect timing and ratio of clutch and throttle, since I wasn't doing what's described in the OP - waiting for the power band and letting 'er rip. These were right from the get-go. Either way, I was hella smiling after each of those three times. One day I'll get it down and be able to get my yut-uuuughh jollies at will.

Back in day I learned wheelies in 2nd gear on my r6 and could shift through 5th gear while in the wheelie. 2001 r6. I have DVD footage of it. You can pretty much wheelie any bike even without clutch if you bounce front forks with correct timing while cutting throttle off then on when forks are rebounding.
