Thanks Daniel. I'm really glad I went, as I learned a lot that will come in the very near future.

Thank you.for noting and mentioning kings road...wife and I went to lost coast, came through honeydew and I ended up at begging of kings due to looking at map and thinking WOW is that a twisty road .....four corners up the dirt hill and told wifey get off and let me look...we were alone and decided NOPE not on the FJR.....always wondered if that was wise...YUP you confirmed it

Will be living vicariously through your ride reports for your trip

I think you mean Kings Peak Rd, off Wilder Ridge.

Day 2 Part 3

Alas, we never met

We spent the second night at the Usal Beach campgrounds. Much warmer than Fortuna but a bit breezy. We camped under the Aspens in a clearing. it was kind of like a scene from the movie Predator. I kept expecting it to drop from the canopy, and the first time I heard the widow maker's song i thought we were done for. It sounded like cracking tree trunks, but it was just the wind knocking them together. The wind persisted throughout the night and became a kind of white noise machine. It was much more soothing than the snoring monster noises in Fortuna.

The night is young

With ample daylight, finally got the tent right

Bikes need rest too

Gratuitous dusty girl shot

A few of us elected to catch the sunset at the beach, which was just a kiss away (or was it a shot).

The poser thinker

Just in time

Better than mine

Glen sure got around

Party time. This was some kind of apple honey moonshine. Quite tasty but I think not super potent.

Dinner was served, and the homemade cornbread deserves honorable mention.

Full bar

There was lots of smoke and a little fire

Aftermath

love the antler-elk on the bridge ... all of them capture the Usal experience really well.

Hey Jason,
Not sure how much time you have allowed but here is a great ride with hotels as destinations from the bay area. If you are only interested in the Lost Coast area only, follow the blue, Mattole rd.

Are you wanting to do this alone? Looking for a partner?

Just remember it is very desolate out there and not much traffic at all if something were to happen, God fobid!
