Thanks Guys...
Yep, this sucks big time!
Another sad day, seeing the bike being hauled off to the dealer.
This is the pretty side.

That's a problem with bikes - they depreciate so fast, it's easy for something like this to "total" them on cosmetics (there could well be more than cosmetics done to this).

But in the end, while the bike "may not be worth fixing", fixing it may well be cheaper than getting a new one.

Kind of that "why are you putting $2,000 in to that worthless old truck?" "So I don't have to put $40,000 in to a worthless new truck!"

Bruce, you have a deadline, to get well and have a new bike. I recommend the new BMW S1000XR with bags.

Bill's birthday ride will be Sept 20, 2020. The route to be determined due to Yosemite requiring reservations just to ride over Tioga. I will post in group ride when route set.

Get well and start shopping.

Hey Bill thanks

The S1000XR looks pretty sweet, but I haven't had anything with a "chain" since '79.

Just some unsolicited advice:

File a medical claim regardless of thinking you need to or not. It can always be canceled.

Start working on your property claim now.The adjuster is tired and busy and will appreciate the following:
Bike value-your purchase paperwork if purchased new
Receipt for tires
list of ay and all mods even if it's a simple tank shield or refective strips on your bags

Gear:
brand and current price for gear including boots as your foot was trapped underneath the bike

The more organized the list the faster the pay out.

File a claim with your insurace company first if you carry collision. Depending on the carrier gear may or may not be covered. Different companies value differently this is a means of comparitive shopping.

Good luck and heal up!
