Has the bike been reflashed via OFT or does it have the race ecu?

Check out the first two linked items. Those are Akrapovic Aprilia Racing 2016 Tuono exhausts. Then compare to the last 2 linked items. When these bikes first came out the only option for a race map was the Aprilia map and it could either be unlocked on the standard ECU with the code from Akrapovic or a race ECU could be installed. The point of the Akrapovic Aprilia Racing exhausts was that they came with the unlock code for the stock ECU. So you paid more for those exhausts than the non-Aprilia models but didn't have to buy a race ECU. Eventually sending the stock ECU off to AF1 and some other folks made getting the race map installed possible. There was also Gabro in Italy, and eventually OFT and others who developed their own race map solutions. My understanding is now the map can be loaded using Guzzidiag and a cable kit from home.

So if you have the official Akra Aprilia exhaust you should have been given an unlock code. Whether you ever unlocked it or not is up to you. If you bought one of the exhausts that preserves the cat then it isn't called for but if you eliminate the cat it should be running a race map, whether the official Aprilia map or Gabro's map, OFT, etc. I am not here to discuss whether changing the exhaust actually requires changing that map. There are thousands of posts over on AF1 about that and each owner needs to decide for themselves. I am just letting OP and Robert know that if it is indeed an Akra/Aprilia Racing exhaust, a higher price was paid initially to buy it and the reason is because of the unlock code, which initially saved the buyer about $750 which was what the race ECUs go for. Now the remap of the stock ECU per AF1 is only $250 and the OFT is around $800 so buying race ECU doesn't make sense for most people.

If the dash says “RACE” on the bottom left of the screen, it means it was flashed with the akrapovic unlock code or has race ecu.

Awesome bike, free bump

I bought the bike from a gentleman in Tucson whose son owned it, and other bikes, and passed away at around age 40-45. As such I could not speak with the owner about what he did with the ECU. The father did not know.
The bike came with the Aprilia by Akrapovic exhaust purchased from AF1 for which I have the receipt (approx. $1450.00.) I contacted AF1 and provided them with ECU serial no. and they advised it came with the code to download "race map" However, I get no race map read out on the dash when turning on ignition. As such the "race map " has not been downloaded. What I do NOT know is whether another map was programmed into the unit. Steve at AF1 advised to send the ECU to them and for $250 they would advise what map is installed and install any other map if so desired.
What I do know is the bike runs perfectly. No popping on decel, and 0 flat spots. As such I decided against re programming, at least for now.
If I keep the bike I will be sending the ECU to AF1 to download either Race ECU or another.
I hope that clarifies things.
SAL.

Flashing to Race Map is FREE using GuzziDiag/IAWWriter ... Done it on my 2016,2017 and 2019. Factory race map is available for free on AF1 forum or I can send them to you

Yes it is now. That wasn't the case when the 1100 came out of course. Is it then possible to go back to the OEM mapping once flashed to the race map? I am finally considering getting a pipe.

Yes, save your OEM map or you can get one on forum as well. I have them uploaded to my dropbox that I can send you the link
