Some group ride tips -- feel free to modify as needed:

** While waiting, safety-check each other's bikes for tire pressures, tire wear, chain slack, etc.

** Ask for everyone's experience level and familiarity with the roads on the planned route.

** Determine & discuss route, speed limits, stops, and final destination.

** Form groups of 6-8, pick leads and sweeps (both familiar w/route) who exchange phone #'s.

** Go over hand & foot signals and how to pass them down (alerting for cops, gravel, etc.).

** "Ride your own ride" - This is NOT a race! Go at a speed comfortable for YOU.

** Don't try to keep up or catch up. Having pucker or "Oh sh*t!" moments? SLOW DOWN!

** We won't leave anyone behind or lost - we regroup at ALL intersections / turn-offs.

** We'll ride "The Pace"

= have fun in twisties, go slower & re-group on straights.

** On straights, look for the headlights of those behind you. Slow down/stop till you see them.

** Pass cars only when it's safe (never on right!); flash lights/honk to alert them, wave to thank.

** Pass each other safely & carefully; watch your mirrors for approaching riders not with our group.

** Use common sense - expect oncoming cars to pass bicyclists extra-wide, don't tailgate, etc.

** Use intersection stops to check on speed comfort levels / to reposition or change groups.

** Report anyone riding over their heads - crossing yellows, running too wide, too tense, etc.

** NO crashing!!! We want everyone to have fun and ARRIVE ALIVE!!!**

If 'group' riding is "too slow" for you, then please ride ahead solo and meet up with us later.
