I keep forgetting to turn off my ABS when tracking... anyone notice a big difference in braking power with it on/off? There were definitely times where I felt like the ABS was limiting my late braking ability into 10 and 14 this weekend at thunderhill. The anti-endo sensor is very sensitive, I think

I guess another way is buy new front lines that are the correct length.

If you do buy new front brake line you have to make sure the banjo bolt that bolts to the brake master cylinder has a bottom mount configuration.

The stock master and stock brake line is set up for a side mount. Using the adapter allows you to use the side mount configuration on the stock brake line and so it bolts to the bottom mount for the RCS master.

I realized it had it when I was nearly hit by an oncoming car that fishtailed into my lane near Berryessa. I was doing ~60 as were they. I had ZERO time to react other than to mash the front brake lever into the grip. Had I been on a bike without ABS I'd have UNQUESTIONABLY gone over the bars. I missed their rear quarter panel by less than a foot.

When I finally pulled myself together after pulling over, I wondered how the hell I didn't go over the bars with such a feral reaction to burrying the brake lever into the bar. ABS was the ONLY answer.

ABS won me over for life that day. I never ever turn it off on the street. On the track.... well, I'd prefer it off for funsies.

I was telling BP not that long ago that i have no idea why i can't endo that bike, used to have zero problems with other bikes. Probably would have kept trying had i not seen this post .

I'm with you on abs being awesome though for the most. You can turn the rear off whenever you want by holding the button down while starting it or some crap like that. You probably know that already, if you don't, instructions are in the service manual.

You actually need a dongle to just do the rear. I have one I need to sell if you're interested. I bought one when I got my bike but the dealer had already installed one... so now I have 2.

Without the dongle, you can only turn off ABS for both or neither.

huh? i haven't tried it but the manual says you can turn it off. Do you have a 16 or something? Take a picture of the page if you want me to.

so, my motor took a sh*t about an hour ago

4500 miles

still not sure wtf happened as this took place like an hour ago
but there's a pretty decent size hole in my valve cover. Heard some mechanical damage for a second that cleared up almost immediately so initially i thought the piston kissed the valve for a second or something since it took place at high rpm. Traveled about another 600 ft or so and came to a light and the bike started smoking from the oil pouring onto the exhaust. So i killed the bike and had the wife pick me up with the trailer.

Not sure what happened exactly since the motor still seemed to run fine before i shut it off. No loss of power or anything. Peaking through my new window there looks to be a missing bolt that attaches the timing chain gear to the cam so i donno if that backed out and punched a hole through the valve cover or if there was never one to begin with.

Warranty better be smooth

the 690 motor has been fantastic! Its possible to increase HP to 81 and change with an intake hardware modification and some value changes in the OEM ECU..

so i'm almost certain that a bolt backed out of my timing chain gear. pulled a fairing to get a little better view and there seems to be a threaded hole under another bolt but no bolt is to be found. I did find a spring thing that looks like it matches the spring thing attached to another bolt in the timing gear so my money's on that.

quick google last night for '701 engine failure' turned up a thread that said there's actually a recall for some 2018 models for something similar. Husky website is trash tho and is turning up an error so not sure if my bike falls into that recall, but it certainly seems like it needed to if it didn't.

Ouch indeed. Where’d you get the delivery number to check husky’s site? I have the VIN obviously. But no where do I have a delivery number.

My paperwork has an engine number and stock number but no delivery number.

Should be a paper that says delivery certificate at the top of it. Standard size white paper, nothing fancy.
