Xr/crf50 parts needed
Hi mini folks
I picked up an xr50 for my kids a month ago sight unseen. Turns out it was a pos but i am going to try and get it rideable for the kids. I know lots about bikes, but not minis, figured I'd try a hail Mary here It has a stiff long adult style shock on it, 11.25", need a stock soft shock for kids for cheap 9.5" or so All I'm seeing is stiff 1200# spings on shorter cheap shocks on ebay and amazon. Any leads? Thanks

I don't have a shock, but I have a set of training wheels if you need them. I might be willing to trade for the shock. I PM'd you my number.

i bet you can find a mountain bike shock that'll work way better than anything designed for the mini bike. of course you'll then need to put better forks on the front and go down that rabbit hole

Did you find anything? I have a stock shock from a CRF250. Ive heard them described as ink pen springs. I'll get some measurements later.

Hi Lucy,
Thanks, i was able to cut down the shock itself about an inch as there was an internally threaded boss extension with an eyelet screwed into it. I removed the eyelet, cut the female threaded boss down and the threaded part of the eyelet to match, reassembled and shock was .8" shorter, much better. And the spring rate is ok for the kids. Now to figure out the carb/jetting for the lifan 125. But that may have to wait till springtime.
