I am loving the SKS I bought. Had it out to the range the other day and it seems pretty accurate. All rounds were in the target and most were center.

I am thinking about rigging it with a scope to see if it is more accurate, but the only way to do it well is to have the scope mounted with screws.

Anyone know of a good gunsmith?

All the good ones I knew either died or moved out of state.

Shotline- go with a side plate mount and some Soviet optics. Here is the mount:
http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/cgi-bin...talogno=AMZUPD and the instructions: http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/Manuals/SKSMounting.pdf And here is the scope to go with that setup: http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/cgi-bin...=GSPOSP424SVD1
Here's what it should look like:

That setup would be the shiznit.

But if not, you can go with a dust cover ringed mount for cheap that works ok and requires no gunsmithing: [url]
http://www.tapco.com/product_informa...ept=171&last=9[/ulr]

I'm hopefully doing the paperwork on my SKS this weekend. We'll see.

The dust cover mount is crap from what I have read. Since the dust cover is not "fixed" in position and can move, you will never be able to zero in the scope.

Teh side mount is what I want to go with but I am hesitant about the smithing. I could probably do it myself if I had a drill press and the tap equipment It is only two holes, but I want to get some other work done also. New muzzle brake, the bayonet and lug taken off.

Ask on Calguns or do a search there on gunsmiths. You should be able to come up with something.

Why do you want to remove the bayonet and lug? That is one of the things that makes the rifle so retro cool.

BTW, I had one of those dustcover mounts on my AK and it worked just fine. Just had to rezero after cleaning, but in between it was pretty solid.

Because I want to get a duganov style stock and didn't think the bayonet would work on it.

It's law enforcement only, since it was designed to shoot through armor.

No. They are capable of shooting a special round that is made to defeat ballistic armor.

Nope.

Remember, nothing fun is legal here.
