I tried multiple other ways of breaking the bead on a Heidenau K60 Scout rear tire on my KTM 990 Adv a few years ago. I was finally able to break it by sticking the tire in a vice. I bought a set of those bead breakers and was able to break the bead with those too. If you ride out in the middle of nowhere - like on an adventure bike - and need to get to the tube, those tools are valuable.

Two big long screwdrivers also work. Stick one in at slight angle and lay other one on top at opposite angle to use lower one as fulcrum. Easily 20:1 leverage. Pry and >POP< off bead!

I had to break the bead on my lawn tractor tire. I just ran over the tire (carefully) with my Jeep and it popped right off

I told him about that tool. I used to have a set and it works well.
