New Year's Day - Make 2009 the Year of the Goat!

With all you folks going to OFG's party, this could be a slim turnout. It's a great way to begin the New Year anyway. Let's start 2009 with a light helping of goat.

Meet: Park N Ride lot at Lucas Valley Road just off 101, north of San Rafael.
Time: 10 AM, January 1st. Arrived with a full gas tank and ready to go.
Route: Out LVR to Nicasio, then up to Hicks Valley, and out to Marshall-Petaluma for a light helping of goat. Once at Marshall, we'll head north on Hwy 1. We can stop in Tomales if the bakery is open (I don't know if they're open on New Year's). Otherwise, continue to Bodega Bay for a nice hot bowl of clam chowder at the Tides Wharf. From there we can head back, or overachievers can go up and ride Coleman Valley.

Pace: Probably a bit brisk, but we'll wait at major turns.

Hope to see you there. Happy New Year!

PS: There has been some re-paving of Marshall-Petaluma over the past year or so, and it's not really all that goaty, so it's a good way to ease into the new year.

Hope this ride was great, Kurt. I was lounging on the beach at Point Reyes, and doing my goat trails on foot.
Hope to join the next one!

Happy New Year! Yes, it was a very, very nice ride, though no one showed up but me.... And even I was late. I got to the start ~ 10 minutes late, hung out for 5 or 10, then took off. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. It was gorgeous day out that way - as you know. I rode out LVR, then up to Hicks Valley, then Marshall-Petaluma (which really isn't a goat...), then stopped for a croissant and a coffee at Tomales bakery. That's when I really regretted not having my camera, as there were two real Cobras there, a 289 and a 427.

From there I dodged over to Occidental and out Coleman Valley to Bodega Bay, then up 1 to Myers Grade and Fort Ross road before coming back down 1 to hit Coleman Valley going the other way, Joy Road, etc., back to 1, eventually back up LVR and then home. There were some real goat trails in there. It was a great way to ring in the New Year.

Hoping we can ride together some time in 09.
