Soon it will be against the law for you to do that wheelie out in that desert in your avatar, have you looked at the bills being debated lately outlawing the motos out there?

No. There isn't.

That's at Ocotillo Wells, are they planning to shut it down?

Wow, you actually made a good and thoughtful point for once without combat.

Just a thought.
Great thought! Simple cheap effective. Kinda like click it or ticket....move it or lose it...muthafucka!!

Are you feeding into the very news story you question? Are you imagining hecwas going 80 at all times? On tam? At a construction stop on 1? Come on peeps...

He wasn't stopped from behind, btw.

EXACTLY this. The CHPs gave him much more respect than the frenzy hunting media. Were only there a kitty up a tree instead.

I did this in Peru a few months ago, and got pulled over by the local cops. They were getting ready to ask us for a bribe when we told them that we were in a rush to get over a 14,000 foot peak that stood between us and our hotel before it got too late and temperatures dropped below freezing on the wet roads. They handed us back our papers and said "well then you'd better hurry!"

This is why it is important to belong to a MRO (Motorcycle Rights Organization) BARF and the "Budman" is an official group recognized by the AMA... if you are not a member you should think about it, they are particularly interested in what is happening in the off road world. Locally, CA ABATE is going through some changes and trying to become more active in all rights issues.... They are not the old time anti-helmet people as they have been branded. You might be surprised at the directions they are starting to take....

Me personally, I belong to all of the MROs, ABATE, AMA & MRF.

I am a firm believer in you play, you pay.... however, I want to make sure that I don't have to pay for things about riding a motorcycle that just are not right. Very important to remember, we are very much the minority in the world of the motoring public.

Laws need to be applied regardless of who the transgressor is. The police cannot be expected to let someone go because of their alleged skill level. That would be like letting a Formula-1 off for speeding simply because he is less likely to crash at high speeds. The law doesn't make exceptions for those things. It sucks the guy got caught, but he knew what he was doing and was obviously prepared to face the consequences. I don't see what the real argument is about. If you start making special exceptions it becomes a slippery slope.

If you want speed, take it to the track.

Still think Grikll makes a valid point.
Wheelies were once legal.
Old folks grew up without using seat belts, and thankfully none are required for bikes.....yet.
THE almighty law once had certain people sit at the back of the bus.
But hey, the law is the law and no one is above it. don't like it? Become a politician.. Be smarter and Break it intelligently on weekdays:|...be richer and buy your speed at the track, the more quarters into the game the faster you get to be...or be a rebel, have super hero skills and suffer the consequences.

But I will always admire the guy who survives the years and thrives on a higher level than the average Joe. Pastrana types. Skateboarders have been fighting this kinda fight by persistent rebellion; blockbuster movies are filled with James Deans and vigilante Superhereos and we stand up and applaud. Funny how in real life we become judgmental sheep.

To me the law has taken over because the masses lack common sense, we are getting dumber and dumber every day.

having had a good day to think about responces to my last post, i was going to 'get back in the fight' here and defended my views on tiered licensing, and my ideas for it, and blah blah, but honestly, the bigger point would be lost in such a post.

and besides, Dani hit the nail on the head with her last post, so i'll leave it at that

Their reaction is pretty strange.

Last year, I got pulled over by CHP for doing 80-somethin' on HWY 1 nearby Santa Cruz. Not too long after that, I was pulled over for doing...somewhat more than that on 101.

No freak-out from the chippers in either incident.
