Alta Demo Day at Metcalf 4/16/17

if it doesn't rain... this from their newsletter:

http://altamotors.us1.list-manage.co...8&e=4f2a401f59

We’ll also be doing a Redshift MX demo day on Sunday, April 16 at Metcalf OHV from 9:00am until 4:00pm. We will meet in main parking lot and running demos on six Redshifts all day on a first-come-first serve basis.

and Sea Otter:
And for those of you who want to see the bikes and meet the team in person in different environment, we’ll be attending the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey California from April 20-23. We’ll share more about that event in the coming weeks, but for now mark it on your calendar.

Edit: I am pretty good at letting folks ride my Alta. Ya' know, if you know how to ride, it isn't a big deal, no gears, no clutch and all.

This seems like a good place to post up the Cycle World review that just went live. It's about 6 pages in the May issue, including two ride tests and deep dive into the tech.

Here's Editor In Chief, Mark Hoyer's ride review: http://www.cycleworld.com/alta-motor...e-trail-riding

Quote:
Playing around off road, these qualities of the Redshift MX are pure magic. Add to this intuitive throttle control.
...
And power from the Alta, with a mostly silent and definitely instant 120 pound-feet of torque and 40 hp from a standstill, is amazing. Doing U-turns for photo passes at the bottom of a running-stream-cut ravine was killer fun. I could roll a tight circle by whipping the bike over hard with steering to the stop and then could just churn the rear wheel while the bike essentially pivoted on the front. Want more wheelie? More roost? Turn the throttle more.
...
But the real beauty of the riding execution here was the precision of power production that goes along with the sweet chassis. I could be almost as precise with a gasoline-powered bike using throttle and clutch, but it was easier to achieve higher precision and repeatable fluidity with the Alta electric.
I'm blushing like a proud mama.

Sorry about that, guys. First date got rained out, and this was the first weekend that worked.

Hoping to do more, and like Butch, I'm always willing to let folks ride my Redshift when I'm out there.

I rode Shiftless a little over 100 miles the last three days at StonyBARF8. Like three hours and 35 miles each of Friday Saturday and Sunday. Then I would have to switch to my KTM so I could put the Alta on the charger. ICE is bloody uncivilized by comparism, especially wandering around the enchanted forest at Stonyford...

You know it would benefit Alta to do it later rather than earlier. Nothing will show the true nature of an electric bike like not having to kick it when its 90 degrees and to see the traction in hardpack with scrabble on top....

It has been rescheduled sometime in May so no they will no be there on Sunday. The park will most likely be closed because the trails are too soggy and the rain.

They close the trails for two reasons:
1. They are excessively environmentally responsible
2. Some of us are excessively irresponsible.

Number two leads to number one. For an urban park like this to succeed, we have to make everyone happy. We are doing a pretty good job, mostly.

Please participate in the Santa Clara County Parks thing...
