I am sure all the yellow shirts here would have been proud of the Rossi fans at COTA cheering MM's crash. Real class, as usual. I flipped everyone off. Luckily, no one punched me for calling it like I saw it: Pathetic.
Well, sure, if Marquez gets 15 titles I'll call him the GOAT, and so will everyone else. Not likely to happen though. Marquez does things with a bike that no one else can do at the moment, but that won't always be the case. It never is. Someone always comes along who's faster. Do you absolutely have to reach 40 and still be competitive to be considered the GOAT? Of course not. But it's a helluva data point, maybe the second best one behind number of titles. What's "dumb" is to suggest that it isn't. The guy is 40 fucking years old and he's still able to compete at the pinnacle of road racing. I think for some reason you just can't appreciate how difficult that is.

If people cheer when Marquez crashes (and immediately gets up or otherwise shows that he's not hurt at all) I see no problem with that. And what does this tell you? No one was cheering when Casey dumped it in the last turn at Laguna in 08. It speaks to his likeability. Lots of people just don't like the guy. And this too is a factor in an analysis of the GOAT. Character matters. (Though I'm increasingly inclined to cut him some slack for 2015, when he was admittedly a punk kid. Assuming his riding stays clean.)

The guys who get to MotoGP go on to dominate WSB when they get too slow and old for MotoGP. So much talent. The slowest guy in MotoGP wins every trackday he goes to, .

separate from Polenz dominant successes, I enjoyed his describing
the set-up process for unfamiliar racebikes even moreso:
a small, magnetic protractor to begin, then sag, etc. following - done!
