This is one informative thread!

What is the need of a single layer of aramid as the final layer over the tank?

I believe CF is much stiffer than aramid and if you are using aramid to give the top layer a little flexibility, dont you think the carbon fibre below will make the aramid layer redundant?

can't speak for tygaboy and don't want to reread... but CF has horrible impact and abrasion resistance. aramid is good at both of those, well better than CF anyway.

a single layer might not do much functionally, but it's better than nothing

I don't think we need any abrasion resistive properties for this project
But yeah I read a bit on aramid and it seems CF is stiffer than it but it tends to crack easily whereas aramid bends a bit rather than cracking

So my question now is, how many layers of aramid will actually make a difference?
