Great stuff silversvs. Nice photostory of your trip. Thanks for sharing

Seems the FJR has lived up to the touring part of supersport-touring. How did it do in the twisties? Does it have the nimbleness of sportbikes in the corners? The FJR only has 5 gears, was that ever even an issue on the high speed straights?

OMG Sargeant Hawg... I would have such a deadass after that ride. Nice pics, well done. Looks better than trackdays if one has the stamina, not sure I could do that on my fat bitch... Congrats, it looks like you 2 have a long beautiful future together.

so this would be a good ride for a r1 huh...

minus the brokenback and sore ass and maybe running out of gas.

i was just out in that area about a year ago, las vegas mojave desert area. nice roads. gas is sometimes MILES AND MILES away tho. ever come close to running out?

The FJR has a 6 gallon tank. One fill up I put 5.8 gallons in it

I wouldn't ride any single day of this trip on an R1, but man the variety of twisties and sweepers during this trip would have been so much fun on an R1.

Yes, I would be totaly embarrassed if I got pulled over for speeding and the officer figured out I am one of them.

It was a lot of fun in the twisties. I kept having to remind myself to get my feet up and back on the pegs. I kept grinding the toes of my boots in the corners.

The FJR isn't "nimble" but it handles well and doesn't seem to mind being leaned over. I was hesitant to really push it since I am just getting to know the bike and mostly because I was so far from home and paranoid to break something.

The FJR sure feels like it could use a 6th gear. I sure tried to shift into 6th a good number of times. But cruising along at 80-85 it is turning 4500 RPM which isn't bad. Running over the ton sure didn't seem to bother it and I never felt like I was close to topping it out. I saw an indicated 132 on a long straight stretch of highway 6.
