An American Motorcyclist in London

I'm about on my second evening in my week long stay in London. I can already tell that a week isn't going to be long enough - especially compunded by most of my time will eiather be spent at the ECTS conference, or in my hotel room working. I've been sneaking out, mostly at night, to take some photos, especially of bikes. Motorcycling is HUGE here, easily twice as many bikes on the street as SF, likely more.

Onboard a train. I'll spare you the obligatory "Mind the Gap" photo, but you better believe I've got one!

The view from this hotel room is somewhat less inspiring than from my last one.

It's good to know the Gixxer 1k is alive and well in Jolly old England.

Cromwell Rd, which is the road my hotel is on. People drive backwards here. :-)

All the honda 600's I've seen have all born just the 600f mark, though this looks an awful lot like an f4 if I'm not mistaken. It's worth mentioning that the twins by far outnumber the i4s over here.

Something I immediatley noticed about London - the electronics shops all look pretty ghetto and nasty looking (at least the ones on Tottenham Court rd. do) but the supermarkets are ethereally soothing. They're all as eye-candy rich as shopping at Ikea, but without the people threatening to fistfight over the last throw pillow, which is probably named Sven.

This stuff is worth trying at least once. No sugar, double caffeine. I think I'm smuggling home a case.

I don't know what I like more - wacky japanese snacks or wacky English snacks.

Don't know what happened to this little guy - found it propped up against this wall, plastics broken, windshield mounts broken, plates missing. Hope the rider made it out okay.

I keep seeing these scooters around town that have roll cages extended from the frame. I wonder what the added safety of that would be. If I manage to snap off a photo of one in the next few days, I;ll post one up.

That's all for now, more to come.

yeah, i really like europe, my family stayed over there for a while. it was really nice, but i u think that a london night is nice, u should walk around paris at 2 in the morning! when i went it was warm, and the streets were packed. i just sat outside at a table at a small cafe and watched the people walk by, and listened to them speak french. it was really nice.

Hey Tyler,

Glad you're having fun if working a lot.

I stayed on Cromwell Rd. in the Earl's Court area a couple times...mid 90's though...don't recall lots...

Have fun!
