Went again Sat, didn't notice any, but didn't look for them either. I only noticed the dam and a "water temple". Looks like the road was pretty much the fire break. Didn't want to stop and take picture, no good and safe spot to pull out.

Thanks for looking... There are 2 houses for the watershed keepers... my high school sweetheart's Dad was one of the keepers, it was like a 2nd home to me...

Thanks for the updates. I was lucky enough to do mines road a couple weeks before the fires and it was quite a lovely road. Hope it recovers fully soon.

The road itself is prime now, never been more maintained as currently. The vegetation will regrow after the next rainy season, since the area is always hot and dry there never was that much growing in the first place.

Thanks Connie. I think the dam looks slightly different after the rebuild. Because of the narrow and winding road and plenty of bicycles I did not have a chance to look too close at the reservoir. I may be able when/if I pass there next time.

True that. Lots of scrub. Miss having it in my back yard...

Thank you, I appreciate it. Now that I can drive for hours again, I should really just take the Miata out there for a spin. It's a beautiful drive... or at least, it used to be...

These houses? That side of the reservoir looks mostly untouched. Along Calaveras Rd it looks like only 5-10% burned.

Had some tacos at the Junction today, Mines is in great shape but looks like Mordor.

Actually if you look carefully you see the road to the right of the green trees, a few 100 feet from the right house. That was the fire break, everything to the right burned. I went again today but did not find a good location to stop. Did not want to go down the 4" drop from the road surface to the pullout, so no photos today. I hope Connie is happy with our findings.

Wait till March and most will be green again. Some of the trees will likely not make it though.

I saw much better than what my pic showed. The blackened area to the right looked like a controlled burn, and it was just grass, not the forested areas. The houses didn't look at risk. BTW, plenty of room where I stopped and took that photo, next to a locked gate where the road goes down to the water.

Road conditions looked alright today. If anyone was up there today and saw 2 people in a sidecar with a dobie, that was us.

Agreed. It's just stark and striking. After the Lake Fire a couple of years ago a friend's autistic son dubbed it "Mordor" and so that's what I call it.
