What's the plan for cancer, heart disease, obesity & diabetes? I am sure if we just had a different executive branch no one would have died.

Few here will admit it but most who died were in nursing homes with on average 6 months left. Six very shitty months, some of you have probably realized we keep people hanging on in this country with terrible quality of life as we have some strange hangups regarding death.

Some of us have dealt with this with family.

I am sure you have heard the term "Old mans friend" ?

We are not stronger than nature though we like to think we are eh?

Almost 50% of deaths were from patients that had been in a care facility 14 days prior to being hospitalized. I’ve been saying this for a few months now. The rate of DNRs and NECs are higher and supports the elevated rate. Maybe we’re caring/protecting for the elderly better now?

Johndice, your situation may be that you are older and in a higher risk category and are worried about this. Understandable.

May also be the case that this has not affected you economically and you can work from home or have the money to ride this out, I suspect this is the case with most BARFers because many here are older, living in one of the wealthiest parts of the world and on average are upper middle class or better.

We have had hardly any balance in all of this. There are no solutions as they say, only trade offs.

The true economic and social implications of this are just now starting to be felt.
Covid is nowhere near as dangerous as we thought it was 6 months ago.

For the trillions we have blown we could have given gold plated care to the vulnerable and let everyone else carry on in a level headed adult fashion. Instead we blew up the global economy, destroyed small business, made a few billionaires and the biggest corporations more wealthy and powerful and quite likely altered our society forever.

I also understand we tend to only think of things happening here in the US, but please consider those not as fortunate as us in other parts of the world.

What is coming will make Covid look like....the flu.

Trust me, as the motives behind your posts become more evident, I take them with a grain of salt....

What motives??

I am in charge of nothing. I retire in 4 weeks so this has not really personally financially affected me other than a few flights I can't get refunded for.

When this is over we will have to look at the motives of the ruling class, and as usual we can probably start with following the money/power.

Is that the latest panic porn estimate that'll be wrong as well?

Michael Osterholm said on August 11 that we were going to have 'an explosion' of cases in September that will far surpass what we saw after Memorial Day. Strangely, we have not.

And while the media is panic porning us with claims of 'big spike in the last week', the reality is that it was only due to a dip in reporting around the Labor Day holiday. If you straight line from a week before a week after, the seven day trend line of cases and deaths is down, not up. It's decline has stalled, but it's not going up yet.

But carry on. 350,000? Why not go with 500,000. With the 250,000 people that got Covid due to Sturgis , we could easily hit 750,000 by inauguration day. It's the new liberal math.

Georgia's seven day average daily death rate is lower, and is falling faster, than the overall U.S. rate. Why would you expect that to change relative to the rest of the U.S., given the measures Georgia took, and got criticized for, were enacted months ago?

This is the kind of stuff people are being fed from the for profit MSM fear porn pushers who are desperate for clicks and views as the legacy media giants die an agonizing death:
https://twitter.com/CNBCnow/status/1308432100589293573

Positive tests now equal cases (they dont) death numbers are slowing dramatically and hospitals are not even anywhere close to being overwhelmed.
