i like my wife's Samsung Galaxy on T-Mo (Vibrant).

personally i'd wait a month or so (october) for the next round of WP7 phones and get one of those.

I used to not like exclusive touch screen phones, but after coming from the G1 (yes ancient Android phone) to the Samsung Nexus S. It wasn't as bad.

I came from a blackberry and their non-sliding QWERTY keyboards...*drool*. Beats out any of the full slide out keyboards that I tried on the various Droids IMO.
I have an Atrix now and Swype is the only reason I don't throw the damn phone across the room when I type. I still get the occasional "damn you autocorrect" behavior . Once when messaging my wife Swype autocorrected "funny" to "fatty". Hilarity did ensue, thankfully the wife has a sense of humor .

alias FTW...that was my last as well. currently waiting for my contract to run out so i can move from the alias 2 to a smartphone; have my eye on the droid 3 as my next phone. in the meantime, the 2 does okay for basic web browsing (read: barfing, and searchign business addresses), but sucks for games.

and i'm with BillSmith..i was with cingular for years (back to pac bell wireless) through its merger with at&t....the signal sucked for years, dropped calls even with 5 bars of signal, on various phones. girlfriend is still with at&t, and it's STILL a problem (part of why we text so much instead of calling). with verizon, there's ONE spot in my house parallel to a wall that'll kill a call. other than that, i've had maybe 2 dropped calls total in close to 4 years.

the one upside of at&t is they seem to have signal further back into the hills than anyone else.

I have AT&T, and my phone is the first to lose reception inside a building, or back in the hills. Everyone else is too busy talking or texting to listen to me bitch about it.

lol...forgot to mention that one too...her phone won't get reception ANYWHERE in my house, except right up against a window, and all of the at&t/cingular phones i had were the same. verizon? all but that ONE spot parallel with the wall. at work i can even carry on a call in the elevators (almost never do, but nice to know i can).

as for the hills, it probably depends what's out there; there's enough touristy stuff near where i go that they seem to have covered it pretty well, but there's still spots far enough out to be out of range of either one (dinkey creek is one that comes to mind).
