SIP stuff to do to enhance your future ride

We had our first motorcycle safety committee meeting today... and it nudged me forward with some ideas.

First a brief note that the new CMSP course will have an online component for the classroom portion of the course.

Here is some stuff to do.

From the MSF:

Quote:
In this twelve-part series, you can get inside the mind of MSF's Dr. Ray Ochs as he rides along a variety of Southern California roads and deals with situations that motorcyclists face every day. As you listen to his stream-of-consciousness narration, you'll see how he applies decades' worth of MSF's collective wisdom to make his rides safer and more fun.
"Ride Along With Dr. Ray" several videos to increase awareness.

Quick tips link
There is a bunch of stuff in there. How to protect your bike from theft, helmets, protective gear etc. A pretty good resource.

Spend a little time reviewing Research

Example: Risk factors

We have all heard other experienced riders say ride like you are invisible.
A little explanation HERE

Expecting the visual Rider Perception tool to be back online soon.
I am looking forward to that.

**EDIT
Adding the Road Signs Test and Collision Trap Test

Ride smart!

Highly recommended!

They're short (10-15 minutes) and Dr. Ray keeps his narration going, so they hold your interest. Onboard video and audio is excellent.

Includes some real scenic highlights of south Orange County, including Laguna Beach, Santiago Canyon Road, and a 3-part trip over Ortega Highway.

Ya know.. I should note.. that when the online school rolls out is unknown. Our action is to ferret it out and send it up the chain for approval to do it.

Also on the list is the one day class for riders that already have some skill. That would still provide the DL-389 waiver to the DMV. It is seen as a way to get unlicensed riders, dirt bike crossovers or returning riders who let their license laps a quicker and easier path to getting one.

And... we have an Online Moto Specific DMV landing page on the docket as well. Right now moto stuff is scattered. Getting it all in one spot makes a lot of sense.

I will be providing input on potential other measures.
