Hey Dave, due to poor testing where results were not timely and therefor contact tracing became all but impossible, the exact "fallout" from that event can not be determined. Both testing and contact tracing are not what they need to be still, for mostly political reasons.

But as you mentioned, "many out of state bikers" attended and then I assume made their way back. Returning as carriers they would have unknowingly spread the virus since symptoms don't show for at least four days. The issue then becomes how do you determine when and where the virus came from, who was exposed and who else is a carrier that traces back to that event.

Your event is not immune, don't know why you think it would be. This virus is highly contagious and just because one person that is infected is not harmed, doesn't mean the many people that are exposed by that one infected person aren't going to be harmed. One infected person becomes 5 then 20 then 100, etc.

Yep. Toxic masculinity has been a staple of Harley culture since forever and masks are for sissies, as is consideration for others, etc.

By your logic, if Herman Cain hadn't been tested he would still be alive today.

Thanks for this considered response. I agree no one is immune.
I'm sure some of the attendees of Sturgis will get the virus. I hope they will be responsible, whatever that means.

My whole point in this mess is that we are isolating the wrong people. Traditionally, the sick have been isolated, not the healthy. Kind of opposite of what the Governor of New York did. We have had many other flues. People died. I don't perceive this one to be much worse than what has gone before.
I'm diabetic and am over 72 years old. I have never had a flu shot and likely never will. Life has to go on and when my time comes, I will go. But not cowering in fear.

While that premise is valid, how do you isolate the sick, when they don't even know they're sick but are still contagious? That's the real issue, if everybody was tested daily with immediate results, then only the people testing positive would need to isolate.

Sadly the "isolated" in senior care facilities got the Virus anyway.

Here it's something like 2/3 of the deaths.

It sure wasn't because they were partying at large events.

But perhaps those coming and going from the facilities were.

Latinos are a large group of the cases here.

Yesterday for the first time since the virus started the middle school soccer field was being used.

Full sides against each other, latino men in their 20s/30s with a decent amount of spectators/family in attendance.

No masks of course.

I think that was not a good idea but you probably do.

Neither of us will be able to change each others' minds.

I think the idea is that folks like Mr. Marklin should isolate as he is at risk and that others should not.

Don't see how that slows the spread to be honest.

As many "healthy" individuals are the ones prone to not distance and wear masks.

We already had an event and we have another one scheduled for this coming weekend at Buttonwillow.
